Marionette Theatre in Prague

by mogaly

Hello everyone,

I'm planning for my trip to Prague 1st of August , so I would appreciate your help . Is the Marionette Theatre at Karlova street still working ? if Yes, at what hour the performance starts? how much is the ticket ? how far is it from Chales Bridge ? Thank you .

Hi mogaly,

I do not know if this is theater you mean, but there is one marionette theater at Zatecka 1, Prague. Theater is called Rise loutek. This one is working.

There is one, not exactly a marionette theater at Karlova street, but they do marionette-kind of theater too(in fantastic settings)it is called Ta Fantastika black light theater. I´m quite sure you meant this one, right?

Could there be a better city for marionette theater that Prague, I wonder ? City of lights and shadows ... old and new ... contrasts.

If you mean the one called "National Marionette Theater" on Zatecka 1 that performs Don Giovanni every evening, I visited there a couple of month ago. The theater is very close to Charles Bridge. It is between the Bridge and the Old Town on the main pass way. The performance is at 8:00pm (although when I was there, they had 6:00pm ones also) and a ticket is around 600czk. The theater itself is in a building that requires you to climb a narrow staircase and we sit on wooden benches. "Don Giovanni" was condensed to a little over an hour and it was fun.

Clean Laundry and Internet Cafe

by Jasen71

For any VT'er the finding of a computer to check any details of a night out or shopping trip is a must... well almost, as on the ground in a location is much different than behind the computer.. I found little laundry with internet. Prague Laundromat is a clean, friendly place where you can wash your clothes while you relax, have a cup of coffee or a cold drink, read the paper, write a postcard home, or check your e-mail. Keep your eyes open. You will...

Keep your eyes open. You will see some beautiful architecture.

A good trip is a castle outside of the city (you must take a train). Leave extra time to shop because they sell crystal for an absolute bargain - I used it to buy gifts for some people back home. The women! They were quite breath-taking. The most beautiful women I've ever seen in one city and I've been quite a few places.

Sword Eater

by Blatherwick

Every day I was in Prague and I was going from the Vaclavske Namesti to the Old Town Square I would pass this guy. The sword is real. He let me touch it. He would stick that thing into him right down to the hilt!

I have to say that the street entertainment in Prague was second to none. Gymnasts, sword eaters, and even opera singers that could really sing.

One of the main reasons of my last trip have been the games of the ice hockey world championships, which were held in the Sazka Arena in Prague, a new build high tech arena. It has been a great experience to be there. I watched three games there and liked the atmosphere very much! It was fun to meet all the international ice hockey fans and especially the Czech fans of course!!!

Unfortunately taking pictures was strictly forbidden, you even weren't allowed to take cameras in... so I only have pictures from the outside after the first day....... Ice Hockey Jersey, flags and a funny mood!!!!!

The Powder Tower

by Paul2001

The Powder Tower is another of Prague's many fortified towers. I only took a picture of it instead of visiting the interior. I was all towered out by now. The Powder Tower was built in 1475 and renovated many times since, most recently in the 1990's. It was used to store gunpowder, hence its name. Inside there are exhibits on the history of the tower. It cost 40kc to go to the top for a vista of Prague. The Powder Tower is located 400m east of the Old Town Square.
