When we went to Advantage Hostel, it was after probably the worst experience in Europe I have ever had. We took the bait at the train station from someone selling a place to stay, only to have him change the price on us when we got there, and we ended up having to walk 1 hour with our packs back downtown to find a new place to stay. I know what you are thinking...if that's the worst you have seen, lucky you...yah I know.
Anyways, we were tired, pissed off, and...oh did I say tired? Yeah so we could have been annoyed at anything from the place we got. However, Advantage was clean, decent looking, and within 2 blocks of the Muzeum. We had a room of about 6 beds (no bunks) and were the only ones there at the time.
Breakfast was included, but it was limited to bread with jam or pate, and coffee.
Unique Quality: Cheap, clean, in the centre...nothing to complain about at all.
Directions: walk up towards the Muzeum and turn right on Sokolska. Walk about 2 blocks.
I stayed in this hostel twice (June and September 2005) by the recommendation of my friend, Joyce_hk. I found this hostel is easy to allocate and just 5 minutes (or less) away from the underground station - I.P. Pavlova.
Unique Quality: Rooms: clean and spacious. Different rooms with slightly different decoration and furniture. Basically with wardrobes (with hangers), small table. Some rooms attach a tiny sitting room before entering the room. Bed (or bunk bed) with proper beddings.
Internet: Just one computer with boardband connection. Free of charge but you have to wait sometimes. Or ask the reception where is the nearest internet cafe. There is one which is 5 minutes away from the hostel and very close to the Burger King.
Meal: There is a restaurant in the basement. Breakfast is included in the hostel fee which will be served from 0730 to 0930. Milk, corn flake, cheess, bread, ham, coffee and tea, butter and jam will be provided. You can also use the kitchen of the hostel, but you have to inform the reception and pay for a deposit (around 400kc).
TV room: TV room is just next to the reception. You can drink and chat with others.
Supermarket/store: There is a tiny store selling daily products and food, just 100 meters away.
It turned out that our room was on the third floor, window facing east and busy Sokolska street.
Courtains were very transparent and there was nothing else to shield us from the early morning sun.
The room was painted yellow, at 5AM the walls were shining like a gold and the noise was so loud like you're sleeping directly on the road.
We had no sleep/peace there.
Oh, yeas, included breakfast was pretty 'cheap'.
Unique Quality: Free internet.
Directions: Near I.P. Pavlova metro station.
Hostel Advantage is very central and cheap, most importantly - there is no curfew! Breakfast included too.
Here's a pic of yours truly sampling some absinthe in our hostel room :)
13euro/night
Unique Quality: cheeeeeap :)
Directions: 5-10 minute walk from Wencelas square - Sokolsa street
