Driving Prague to Wroclaw

by cucaron

Hello.
We are planning a trip driving from Prague to Wroclaw (Poland) in one day, leaving early in the morning to Kutna Hora and then drive to Wroclaw. Any advice about what to see between KH and Wroclaw.

Thanks

Sorry I can't answer your question but when you get to Wroclaw and you go to the Square (every town in Poland has a town square) go to where the Flower stand is, and right around there you will find "Inspiracja - Plac Solny 16". They had music, a jazz trio the night we were there and we sat outside and had wine and listen to music. You must go inside, downstairs to the restaurant - just beautiful and good food. We hope to get back. John

Karluv Most. Legends

by bugulma

There is another legend. The bridge was twice destroyed by river floods. The architect was very upset and decided to give his soul to the devil. Devil promised to help architect but he asked the soul of the first creature who will cross the bridge. The architect agreed. So, the bridge was successfully built. In the day when architect opened it, he saw that his grandson rushed to the bridge. But architect caught up him and threw cock to the road and the cock crossed the bridge.

PILSNER URQUELL: Brewed for centuries in the historic town of PILSEN. Pilsner Urquell revolutionized the art of brewing beer. They created the worlds first golden beer. This breakthrough delivered an intensely rewarding taste and a beer that sets the standard by which all other beers are measured today.

Hey, I Thought It Was In PARIS!

Petrin look-out Tower

Midget version (60 m high) of the famous big metal tower in Paris. This knock-off was built in 1891 for the Prague Jubilee Exhibition.

When I was last in Prague the tower was showing its age, and was closed. After some intense restoration, the tower reopened to the public in March 2002. Those with strong legs may want to walk the 299 steps to the top platform.

Open daily:
March - August 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
September - October 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
November - March Saturdays + Sundays 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Teeny tiny things..........

by leics

Now, here's an odd place well worth a visit. It's the Museum of Miniatures which is in (appropriately) a small building in the courtyard of the Strahov Monastery courtyard.

Inside are amazing tiny things (you view them through microscopes) made by a Russian chap called Anatoly Konyenko (who has made the world's smallest book).

There's a flea with golden horseshoes, scissors and key, a caravan of camels in the eye of a needle, trains running on human hairs...........totally weird and totally enthralling stuff.

What an amazing skill to develop!

Tram 22 or 23 to stop 'Pohorelec', then walk into the monastery courtyard; the museum is signed from there.
