Parking in Prague

by codrutz

Hi, I will take a one day trip to Prague with my car and I wonder how to avoid 20 EUR overnight parking fee to the hotel. Are there free parking spots in the streets or all the parking places are hourly with ticket?

Any suggestion around Panorama Hotel - Milevska no.7 street?

Your hotel is in "free parking" zone - I mean you can park for free on the streets, no ticket needed.

Since I do not live in that are I can't recommend any particular place. But keep in mind that since there are so many cars in the city it might be quite difficult to find empty spot near the hotel, especially in the evening when everybody comes home.

Thanks for the tip, I will come to the place before 12am, leave the car, leave the luggage at the hotel and head then with the metro to walk in Prague, so hopefully I will find a good place for the car overnight.

Are there any safety issues with foreign cars? I mean should I take precautions not to park in specific areas that might be private or something.

Well, you have to take usual precautions against your window being smashed and items from car stolen as foreign cars are more likely to be targeted.

Not sure if in that area are many places park on the open streets or mainly in parkings next to the apartment houses. In latter case locals might be angry that "stranger" car has taken their spot even that it is not marked... Since I do not have car it is difficult to offer best strategy....

NATIONAL GALLERY

by LoriPori

Located in the Prague Castle complex is this lovely red structure, the NATIONAL GALLERY. It was formerly St. Georges Basilica but was turned into the National Gallery and became part of the Prague Castle complex.
Entrance fee was 50 CZK

The Czech people love beer!!!...

by SwedeSarah

The Czech people love beer!!! It's one of the biggest beer drinking countries in the world. Many types of beer is made here such as Budvar, Vratislav, Radegast, Staropramen (the only beer I like!) and so on. Beer is cheap here too, costs about 50 cent and up. So, all beer lovers sure can try out them all! :) The photo is of a beercoaster I took at a pub. ;)

This castle rivals Ludwig's Neuschwanstein in terms of outstanding architecture!

From Praha-Smichov station take a local CD (Cesky Drahy) train to Karlstejn station (30min). It costs 21 Kc per adult. If you travel with a baby pram, pay 6Kc additional.

From the Karlstejn station, walk another 30min(leisurely) uphill to the castle. Be sure to check the timing for English tour near the ticket office.

The Pilsner Urquell Brewery in...

by Cabana_Boy

The Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Plzeò. Altough its world famous status does not make the Pilsner Urquell Brewery necessarily 'off-the-beaten-path' it is certainly 'further afield' when considering Prague as your main destination. Regardless, if you have a free day and love beer, don't miss this brewery. AJ and I merely did a day trip out to Plzeò and did nothing more than visit the brewery adn drink in its large beerhall. Hopping the train in the morning, it took about forty-five to sixty minutes to get to Plzeò from Prague. In fact, we got there before the brewery evening opened.
