A Budget but Safe and Friendly Accommodation

As I don't often like to stay in hostels must say I was surprised by how clean, safe and friendly this one was. It's hidden in a quiet area some thirty minutes on foot from the town center or two metro stops from the Muzeum stop. We stayed for two nights in a double room sharing our bathroom with the room next door. we payed 1000 CZK for one night/room with breakfast. The hostel has a small breakfast/common room and a lovely small garden which can be really enjoyed in the summer. The breakfast is very basic, just some bread, soft cheese, jam and cake, tea, coffee or juice so for those who enjoy a hearty breakfast, like me, you might want to drop into one of Prague's many lovely cafes for a breakfast afterwards.

Directions: Take the metro line C (red) and get off at I.P. Pavlova stop. From there following the instructions that you'll find on the hostels page. It's only a 5 min walk or so.

    Great Hostel

I stayed at Hostel U Melounu while in Prague and it is my second favorite hostel I have ever stayed in.

The room we stayed in was apartment style which included: two bedded rooms, a full kitchen and private bathroom.

The walk to the Old Main is about 15 minutes. Located in a safe neighborhood.

Unique Quality: The hostel had a private garden with tables, lawn and a fire bit. A great place to relax after walking the city of Prague for an entire day.

The hostel offers laundry facilities, Internet access, 24 hour reception desk and a continental breakfast.

    Directions: City Center

    Great Terrace

An attractive hostel set in a historic building on a quiet backstreet, this place has the added advantage of a peaceful, sunny garden complete with BBQ and drinks.

Unique Quality: Great place to socialize with other travellers and the BBQ is great.

    Directions: Metro IP Pavlova

    Prague's Best Hostel

This hostel is amazing! It's in a good location--quiet street, close to the metro, definitely within walking distance of the main sights. The rooms are fairly large and very clean. Even the shared bathrooms stay clean throughout the day. The breakfast selection is pretty good. The receptionists are really great. They know a lot about the city and are very helpful when you ask them for anything. There is internet access (you get 30 minutes free if you book this hostel on their website) and a washer and dryer. I would definitely stay here again!

Unique Quality: The courtyard is a fantastic place to meet other travellers, and to enjoy your meals outside.

  • U Melounu

U Melounu is small hostel which is a further from the town center (10 min walk to Wencelas Square; 15 to Old Town square).
At first glimp I was wondering where I had to enter, and yes it is the very little door you have to enter.
I slept in a room with 6 beds. Pitty that there was only 1 key for the room. Room is clean and you don't have to bring your own towel, you get a big one. The lockers seemed to be new and a bit bigger that the usual ones. I dared to put it in my backpack.
Luggage room is also available. Entrance via the garden.

Yes the hostel has a garden with must be fun in summer time and for me now end of february nice to see the snow.

The breakfast room is located in the cellar and is a bit small. Breakfast was a bit less than in the Travellers hostel. No real cheese and no meat (except for the pate/pasty).

    Friendly recptionistes and 24hr open.

Unique Quality: Comfortable clean rooms for very reasonable price.

    2 nights 600 CZK - 18,93 EUR.

100 CZK to make use of lockers which you got back when you return the key.

Directions: When at the South side of the Wencelas Square (at the muzeum) take the big road on the right (Mezibranska) which becomes furtheron Solkolska. On the right take the little road Na bojiste which ends up in Ke Karlova. Take this left and follow about 300m.
