Tiny room

On a business trip I stayed just one night at Hotel Ametyst.
Announced as "The Exclusive 4 Star Boutique Hotel" I was
really surprised and disappointed when I entered my "room"
The room was very, very small ( see photo). If you suffer
from claustrophobia you will not enjoy your stay there.
There might be other(bigger) rooms in this Hotel but this is
what I got. To me the slogan of the
Hotel "Stay with us, and feel like home” sounds like a derision.

Actually I do not need a luxury room, a clean room with
bed and bath room for just stay overnight is sufficient. It is
only that the room I got ( room # 106 ) does not fit to the
advertising on the web pages of the Hotel at all.

However, the Hotel is located in in a more quiet area in district
Vinohrady in walking distance to the famous Wenceslas Square
( 10-15 min). There are 2 subway stations closeby ( I.P. Pavlova
and Namesti Miru ). The famous restaurant
"U Kalicha" ( http://www.ukalicha.cz/ ) which is well known
is just 5 min away.

Room facilities:

Separate bathroom with bath or shower and WC, hairdryer,
cosmetic mirror
Satellite and Pay TV
Minibar
Coffee and tea maker
Electronic room safe
Direct-dial telephone
Air-conditioning in all rooms
Wireless lan internet connection

The breakfast was included. Food and service were very good.

It can be difficult to find a public parking lot around but you
can use the Hotel owned parking garage. Just stop in front of
the Hotel and the staff will take care of your car.

Summary: Hotel facilities and location are good but because
of the tiny room I personaly can not recommend this Hotel.
For my next stay I will choose another Hotel.

Hotel Constans OR Hotel Ametyst

by CALSF

Does anyone know which of these 2 hotels is better in terms of location, rooms, amenities, etc.?

I know that Hotel Constans is halfway between Old Town and the castle. But I am not sure where Hotel Ametyst is located other than it is in the 2nd district.

Thanks.

I have not stayed in these hotels but I think you might be able to make decision after viewing these webpages:
Constans:
www.prague-accommodation-guide.com/constans.htm
Ametyst: www.hotelametyst.cz
It seems that the price is the same. Rooms and services also.
Location is very different. Constans - in real historic center, all main visitors attractions are in walking distance. It lies in one of the small romantic streets of Mala strana quarter (under Prague Castle). The area is touristic, but this streei is quit (a little bit apart from main tourist streets), may be too narow (less light in the rooms?).
Ametyst - still good location in a quit area, but for historic center you will have to use always metro or tram. But connections are very good and public transport is cheap in Prague. If you want to go out for diner this area will be certainly much more cheaper then the Constans area.

Me personally I would choose Constans (if the price is the same), because it seems much more stylish and romantic.
ENjoy your stay,
Zuzana

Hello Zuzana,
Thanks for always helping me with my Prague questions.

Actually Hotel Ametyst is offering a rate that is 50 euro less than Hotel Constans. But Hotel Constans is offering a suite on the top floor with a view of the castle & Petrin Hill and it has air conditioning.

Plus what you confirmed about the convenient location, I will most likely choose Hotel Constans.

Are there any other hotels that are comparable to Constans around the same area that you are familiar with?

Thanks.

No, unfortunatly I do not know the hotels in this area.
It is sure that for this price there are other good hotels in good area, but I have no experience. But if you are ready to spend this money I think you should not be disappointed by this hotel.
