April 5-9 student trip

by funkycarla8

hi my college is arranging for us (20 students 2 teachers) to go to prague for 4 nights. Becasue we're travel and tourism students they want us to help arrange it. I've never been and don't know anyone who does to get any ideas from.
Could you please advise me on where is cheap but also great for large groups.
Thanks
Funkycarla8

hiya
we stayed in the Extol Inn in Holesvice area of Prague
It is a hotel and hostel and therefore offer fairly cheap accommodation ( hostel part)
they have their own website ( i have a link on my homepage) or you can shop around on other accommodation websites to see if youy can better the rate that way

it is a little out of the centre of prague but you can catch a trma at the end of hte street into the main tourist areas - check it out

enjoy prague
we did

Type the word Prague into the Search box on the top right of any page here on VT

Also do the same in google.

You will get more info than you can possibly use and also learn a bit about researching a college level project.

I've sorted flights and accommadation but trying to find coach hire is hard as most websites don't give you a price. Any suggestions on transport and must see attractions.
Thanks for help so far.

Sorry can't help with renting transportation. You don't want to use public transportation? No time to write to each of the coach/bus companies that you have found and ask for their rates?

Re: April 5-9 student trip

You will need to contact the coach hire firms individually and ask each for a quote. That's how coach hire firms operate (in countries other than the Czech Republic too). They can't display prices if they don't know your time/distance requirements, obviously.

Hostels are the normal accommodation for large groups. www.hostelworld.com will list all those in Prague.

You will need to develop your online research skills for your course and future employment. You cannot rely on having been to a place or knowing someone who has in order to answer questions (or,indeed, posting questions on internet forums).

For an afternoon away from the crowded streets try Petrin Tower as seen on many a VT page. A bit of greenery and great views.

Travel Tips for Prague

First courtyard

by mardaska

Just after the Giant’s gate you find yourself into the Ceremonial courtyard. It is surrounded by beautiful buildings which are still in use for official receptions and events. At the west wing of the courtyard is the Matthias’ Gate that leads to the second courtyard.

Best Viewing - At Twilight

by mrclay2000

The best time to see many cities is at night just as the skies merge from darkest blue to absolutely black. If you have a good camera, a tripod or the means to keep your camera perfectly still, you can walk away with interesting shots you thought only possible in the guidebooks.

Don't show too much money, show off etc..be sensible..and don't start sentences by: Hi! I'm american and...

ALSO! There is a fee for public restrooms. The cost varies with the need.. Pay to the person sitting in front of it.

TRAMWAYS AND METRO: Paiment is based on honor. If somebody askes for your ticket, just show it, it's an inspector. If you don't, you get heavilly fined! By a 7 day pass at the little booth inside the station.

Karlstejn castle

Karlstejn Castle is one of the most outstanding medieval castles I have ever visited. It was built in the middle of the 14th century in order to be the place for the Empire coronation jewels and state documents.

Karlstejn Castle is situated 40 km southwest of Prague.
