Paddleboating on the Moldau
by der_geograf
One of my most memorable moments in Prague was renting a paddleboat with a friend and churning and steering our way along the Moldau River. The rental price was cheap (the amount escapes me at the moment but it was surprisingly low), and you can rent them from a small island in the center of the Moldau just down from the Charles Bridge.
I would recommend it to anyone!!!! (Although, it probably would not be a reasonable thing to do in winter.)
Meet all ther other cool...
by nixon_fc
Meet all ther other cool people travelling through the city. Get out there and do the culture thing as well with a city so full of history it has a story to tell and it is my only regret that I didn't get to see more of it. Still it's an excuse to go back!! We began drinking in a Bar called O'Sheas at 1:00pm and met any number of very cool people who if I went back I hope are all still there to catch up with. In particular we met a Kiwi named Toni. Unfortunately we lost his e-mail address and haven't talked since. This is a shame because anyone who isn't killed by all that absinthe can't be so bad!! Toni seemed to be a magnet for club photographers no doubt owning to his abiltity to pull off some outrageous dance moves thus far unseen in club land! If you know a guy called Toni who goes for long boarding, hip-hop music and lives in North Island N.Z. then let me know. That entire day and night was a bit of a blur but it was all great fun.
Metro Etiquette
by Gage17
You will surely notice this when you ride the Metro, but I witnessed lots of foreigners ignoring the Czech example, so I thought I'd pass on two bits of advice...
Please wait for people to step off the trains before you board. It just makes sense - if people come off, there's more room for you.
Please stand to the right when riding the escalators... this way, those who choose to walk the steps can pass on the left.
Prague Post Office
by TheSentinel
Situated in a very interesting building on Jindrisska street off Wenceslas Square. Look up and you'll see a very detailed art deco ceiling.
Take a number from the machine to be served. There is normally a 5-10 minute wait.
Note: you are not allowed to take photos.
Karlstejn Castle
by HORSCHECK
Take a daytrip by train to the famous Gothic Castle of Karlstejn. The medieval castle was built between 1348 and 1355 to deposit the Empire coronation jewels and state documents.
It is located on a hill and offers great views of the surrounding area. The way up the hill is packed with tourist stalls selling every kind of souvenirs.
Karlstejn ist located about 35 km southwest of Prague. A return train ticket was 112 CZK in 2003 (less than 2 EURO).
