Hi,

You already can buy special priced e-ticket here:
https://eshop.cd.cz/
(switch to English by clicking on small flag).

There are just few things to mention:
1. You have to register (for free).
2. Offer is valid ONLY trough internet and only for selected trains (not all Prague Budapest connections) - up to 3 days before departure (but might be sold out earlier).
3. Ticket is isued for particular train on particular date and on your name - not allowed to be used by other person(you also have a seat reservation included automatically). It can not be used for other train on the same date.

You can search the special priced connections now, but can buy up to 60 days before departure.

Hi, you coudl also check skyeurope low cost airlines. I would guess that they advertise low prices right after august as they keep promoting the holidays months now.

Enjoy. Great Traveller.

Skyeurope is in creditor protection period till midle of September and does not have licence for winter season (yet). So not tickets are sold for November at all. It is very likely it will go bankrupt in September/October.

They have one of the planes witheld in Paris for non-payments. For this reason there is almost no day without Skyeurope flights delays on some routes for 2-6 hours.

Travel Tips for Prague

The clocks

by vanessadb

Prague, as I already said, is one of my favourite cities in the world. It's beautiful, it's charming, it's enchanting, it's friendly, it's fun, it's interesting, it's romantic, it's just about everything you want it to be! The clocks on the Old Town Main Square are a beautiful work of art. Every single person who has gone to Prague has seen it, because you just cannot miss it: every hour, when the clocks announce 0 minutes and the little figures come out, a humongous crowd stands in front of them all staring at it.

As I had to walk in front of it every single day, after feeling quite annoyed at the standing tourists blocking my way, I ended up enjoying and laughing at these crowds, all in the same position, all staring at the same thing, all together. So I would not look at the clocks anymore, but instead at the... sheeps?

I am not even going to try and describe the Charles Bridge! The colorfulness, the splendor, the atmosphere - everything about it is so charming! It leads you to the so-called Lesser Town, where you can see the Church of St. Nicholas, a GREAT example of the Baroque in Prague!

Prague Attractions

Six hundred years of architecture, unharmed by war or nature, make Prague one of the most aesthetically pleasing cities in Europe. Disappearing behind the Iron Curtain for most of the latter part of the twentieth century, Prague re-emerged after the Velvet Revolution of 1989 and is today, one of Europe's most visited attractions. The city is compact and easy to navigate, from the Old Town Square where classical concerts and traditional marionette theatre shows are regularly held to the two citadels from which the modern-day city has grown. Philosophers read Kafka in Bohemia whilst history enthusiasts feast upon castles and cathedrals, dating back to medieval times. In summer visitors can take advantage of boat-rides down the river, under the spectacularly adorned Charles Bridge.

For or against

If you're a fan of Lennon don't miss this mural / graffiti dedicated only to this 'legend'. You cant miss it if you follow these instructions. When passing from Charles Bridge, lookiing south you'll see that the Vltava river splits into a stream which is called "The devil's stream". Just before the foot of the next small bridge (100 metres down from Charles Bridge) there's a water Mill. The graffitti are just round the corner on the walls of 'The grand Priory of the Knights of Malta' Be aware that not all written messages hail John Lennon. You might be offended with some of them.

Have you ever been 'defenestrated'?

by rexvaughan

I have liked the phrase the "Defenestration of Prague" for years but never had any idea what it meant. Well, 'fenestra' is the latin word for window, thus the word 'defenestration' means to throw something (or someone) out the window. Well the biggest defenestration I know of occurred in Prague in the early 15th C. Jan Hus and his followers were seeking a pre-Luther kind of reformation in the church - things like allowing parishioners to partake of the chalice and limiting the secular influence of the church. This of course caused heated disagreements and eventually a group of radical Hussites, led by Jan Zelivsky, tossed the town councillors out the window of the town hall. A real downfall for them but it allowed the Hussites to control Prague for a time. In the photo you can see the window in question with a relief of Zelivsky on the plaque commemorating this historic defenestration.
