Hi there! Somebody did ask before about the name of that crystal shop where Samantha Brown went to in her Prague episode, and YVRDave (my virtual friend "Griff") raced me to the is that forum:

However, Samantha often stays at expensive hotels and the prices in that crystal place might be high. You might have to do more reasearch on the net but the pragueexperience website might help a little:

Good luck with your search for the perfect crystal! Jumpingnorman :)

Try not to buy anything too fast or on the first day. They will haggle if you find a good dealer. Try to buy further away from the tourist traps. You can find better deals in Karlovy Vary on souvenirs. Karlovy Vary is about 1 and a half hours outside of Prague.

Travel Tips for Prague

Christmas Eve

by fassolia

When in Prague be prepared for delicious local food. It's delicius and cheap too.Don't forget to order 'dumblings' instead of bread and search for strange soups served inside a bread's crust!DON'T look for fastfoods cause there aren't so many.Hungy after 11p.m.?Could be a serious problem. Christmas Eve at the Old town square square with a cup of red hot wine and sausages sold on the street ,in front of the fabulous catholic church, while it was snowing and small bands were playing and people were singing.

Buy a map and stroll around the main areas around Charles Bridge (Karluv most), Old Town Square (Starmonestske namesti) and Prague Castle (Prazxky hrad). I think these are 3 must-to-see in Prague. And if you want a fancy ride, why don't you try the nice carriage ride on the romantic roads? Simply it is so beautiful city with many beautiful and magnificent buildings! Also the price is quite cheap so you can really enjoy much in here. Hey, this was the place where I could have full course dinner with a glass of wine during my backpacking trip to Europe.

The Pieta

by zrim

This bronze sculpture commemorates the opening of Mozart's Don Giovanni in Prague on October 29, 1787. Don Giovanni was well received in Prague--not so in Vienna.

The sculptor (or is it sculptress?) of the haunting work is Anna Chromy. She has a pretty interesting website at: For example, I found out that Ms. Chromy moved from Prague to Paris in 1970 and became a protege of the famous Salvidor Dali.

The sculpture, Pieta, is one of a group of eight that portrays the major characters of Don Giovanni and it is considered Chromy's most important work to date.
