Pragues hotel - tucked away from all the crowds!!!

Hotel & Residence Praga is on the outskirts of old town which is 10 mins walking distance from shopping and 10-15mins walking distance from charles bridge...

we stayed at the Hotel & Residence Praga for 3 nights in July 2007 - rooms were quite nice with TV & fridge etc... Interior of hotel was classic & had a lift aswell as a nice historic staircase (which we took to walk down stairs to breakfast every morning)!!!

Unique Quality: It had breakfast included which was really nice & 24hr front desk to arrange tours & shuttle buses to the airport & internet facilities also... Id recommend this hotel...

charming location...

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything about it was charming and it had all the right amenities. The price was excellent for someone on a budget, yet wanting the charm and extras. That said, this is not a good place for families as is it is quite intimate and quiet. The hardwood floors are beautiful but can be loud. The 24 hour receptionists are at your service, and the location is excellent for getting around. It is about a 7 minute walk to the Charles Bridge or Old Town square. I find that this gives a better perspective of the city. Karlovo Namesti is a block away which adds a pretty park setting for starting your day's venture. Once I saw the city center I was very glad I was staying just a bit out of the way-it is much less crowded, but still in the middle of things.

Unique Quality: Like a charming Praha apartment on a quiet but busy street.

Perfectly located aparthouse

http://www.prague.st/hotels/apartment_aparthouse-20.php

I stayed here with my wife and our in-laws. It cost 100 euro per night (for the room, not per person), but we had seperate rooms, and we were located off the main boulevard. It's not the nicest apartment, but it was perfect for 3 nights. We bought groceries, made our own breakfast and lunch at home, but went out for dinners.

Unique Quality: The owner of the apartment house came to the train station and picked us up in his car. He was very friendly, told us where to go and where not to go. Outstanding service!

Near to the center

The hotel is located in the centre of Prague. Each room has a bathroom with shower and hairdryer. Rooms are cleaned everyday and fresh towels are supplied. The room also has a minibar and satellite TV. Most of the staff speak english. The reception is opened 24 hours and will book taxi's and concerts, however there is a charge for this service. They also sell the usual.. postcards etc which are cheaper to buy in a shop and charge a whopping 3 Euro for a stamp. The hotel is near the subway "Karlove Namesti" and a five minute walk takes you to Venceslav square. I paid 44 Euro for bed and breakfast sharing per night. Breakfast consists of a selection of meats, with different types of bread and the usual jam and maralade together with tea and coffee.

Unique Quality: Friendly staff. Rooms are huge..

Is any one can tell me how to get there from Bus station( arriving from Nurenberg)and from Hotel to Main Train Station. Thank you in advance.

Re: Hotel Praga 1

Hi

Never done it but the following may help.

From the website - http://www.myczechrepublic.com/prague/trains_buses.html - "If you are coming to Prague on an international bus, you will most likely arrive at the Florenc bus station, which is located at the B/C line of the subway." So looking at the metro map - http://www.hotelraider.com/prague-metro-map/- that's the orange line.

From the hotel website - "The nearest underground station is Karlovo namesti on line B. From there you can take a tram No. 4, 6, 10, 16, 22 and get off at the first stop, Stepanska. Go straight on and after 15 m turn left to Stepanska, at the crossroad turn left. After 30 m you will find our Hotel Praga 1 nr. 5 on your right."

So Florenc metro to Karlovo namesti metro stop, then take one of the above trams to Stepanska. Then follow the hotel's instructions as per above.

No, there is a simpler way.

Both Florenc bus terminal and Central railway station are on the metro line C (the Red one). Take metro to "I.P. Pavlova" (3rd stop, you will pass Main railway station- Hlavni Nadrazi) and from there any tram going downhill - 1 stop to "Stepanska".

Alternative for Bus terminal - hotel: Take from "Florenc" tram No 24 to the stop "Vodickova" (5 stops, 10 minutes) and then walk to the hotel.

Walking distance is slightly shorter from Vodickova, but it is downhill walk from Stepanska and to the hill from Vodickova.

Q: Prague public transportation "Hello VT; I'm so confused how the 1 day or 3 days pass works. It says that you have to validate the pass/ticket before..."

A: "You validate it once and then it is good for the 24/72 hours on all public transport whether metro, bus or tram."
