A good location and a decent price - but that's it

We stayed in Hotel Ibis near Wencelav Square for two nights in summer 2007. The hotel was nothing to write home about but it was ok. The room wasn't too small, a bit smelly though because we got a smokers room. The blankets of the comfortable bed had holes and stains, something I wouldn't normally expect from a hotel you pay around 100 EURs for (we paid 70 EUR for the double room but I think that was the travel agent rate).

Unique Quality: Breakfast was ok, not too fancy though. The location, a short walk away from the Metro stop and a few hundred metres away from the upper end of Vaclavske Namesti is good. The old town is in walking distance. What I enjoyed most, however, was the hotel bar which is open until 1 am and where you can order a Caipiroshka 5 minutes before closing time without being killed by the barman.

Good deals can be had, and walkable to main centre

This is a pretty standard modern hotel. If you can get a deal for around £50 per room then it is good value. From £70 to £100 then I would say that is a bad price.

It has a restaurant and bar if you don't want to venture outside. However, there is a Mexican just on the corner opposite and "local" bars within a short walking distance.

I wouldn't say it was in town, but 10 to 15 minutes walk will get you to where things are like Wenceslas Square and so on.

There is a tram stop close by as well.

On my second visit to Prague, I stayed outside of town as a friend had booked it, but in fact where I needed to be (as I was over for karate training) was close to this hotel. With hindsight I would have sought this hotel out again.

Ibis Praha City

About 60 Euros per room.

Unique Quality: A fairly standard Ibis hotel, you could easily think you were in one in France. Handy for the tram, and a downhill walk to Wenceslas Square - State Museum end. Decent security - room key needed to use the lift

A: "You validate it once and then it is good for the 24/72 hours on all public transport whether metro, bus or tram."
