If you’re familiar with Ibis Hotels I suppose this will meet expectations. It’s clean, modern, functional, and efficient. It’s well used by tourists, especially large bus groups, as well as businessmen. Staff is well-trained.
The hotel is about 5 minutes from tram and subway. Then wait on the train and in 10 minutes you’re walking around the old city. This means you’ll invest about 30-40 minutes every time to you go and out of center city. It’s not a place you can use as a convenient rest stop amid sightseeing.
There’s a bit mall next door. Surrounded by the standard issue chains, you’ll forget you’re in Prague. The hotel has a few tables outside. On one side is the featureless wall of the Ibis, on the other is a modern office high rise. You sip your drink right next to a parking lot and watch the buses belch forth tourists. You could be anywhere.
If you want something with personality, charm, good location, ambience—all those elements that give a place SOUL, this is not it.
We couldn’t get out fast enough, and relocated for a bit more money in the old city. That move saved my Prague stay.
Unique Quality: Entertaining to watch people fight over the single internet computer in the lobby.
We are going to Prague for the first time this December and we are not sure what to pack to wear for the climate. How cold is it?
