Exceeds your expectations

30th March 2005 for 2 nights.
I was hoping for a good hotel but have had bad experiences picking a good one via the internet. This one was the best ever. It exceeded our expectations (high ones) and delivered on what we wanted. The Hotel is newly renovated and has a clean sparkle about it. Some of its historical design that has been so lovingly renovated and is amazing. The staff are very courteous and helpful and are highly trained. They all seem interested in making your stay an enjoyable one. The room was very good with lovely clean sheets. I also arranged for a massage which was wonderful. The breakfast was superb. The hotel was very central, just beside the Opera house and the old town. I really would recommend this hotel and would go back in a flash.
Location, Location, Location

Prime location to see the many wonderful sights of Prague, can walk to many, and access to the Metro is a few minutes walk, to the Trams perhaps a leisurely 15 minute stroll through a nice shopping district and past the really hopping Wenceslaus Square.
Staff is very helpful, and some really good looking young Praguers. Rooms are a bit on the small size, but are well equipped and the beds and comforters are top-notch. Heated bathroom floor is a neat touch.
Word of warning, check the prices of drinks at the hotel bar before you order anything other than beer. The beer, by the way, is very good!
The breakfast buffet is really excellent, with champagne a nice eye-opener!
Fantastic

We stayed for 3 nights as a birthday surprise for me! What a surprise - it was wonderful. Great location, central for everything. Everyone goes on about the heated floor which I thought was odd but when you experience it, it really is a treat - especially if the weather's nippy outside!
Mucha museum small but worth a visit - funny photo of Gaugin (I'll say no more!!).
Castle huge, Charles bridge bustling and interesting - lovely at night time. We felt really safe at night. Being vege's we found a few restaurants that served just vege food - one called 'Adam & Eve' behind the Astronomical Clock. Went to a concert in the Municipal Hall - well worth it.
Get the airport shuttle bus from the Republic Square (by the Municipal Hall)and this will save you money - it costs around £3.
Can't wait to go back!!!!!
Fantastic location

What a great hotel in a fantastic location. If I had a minor complaint it's that the rooms in the new extension are a little on the small side and the furniture has been designed for looks rather than for the ability to store lots of clothes! We were there for four nights and the drawer space wasn't adequate. On the plus side the hotel is spotless, the staff friendly and helpful, the breakfast is excellent, the quality of the furnishings can't be faulted and the location really is excellent. As an aside we almost booked in the sister hotel - the K+K Fenix but it is in a much busier area and with some seedy "cabaret" clubs next door. I think we made the right choice. Prague itself is simply wonderful (and clean) and makes you realise how civilised other parts of the world can be. The money changers are the only menace but even they don't push too hard - I guess the growth in ATM's, Maestro etc must be killing their market. To sightsee it's best just to follow the guidebook and we found the DK book better than the one from M&S - although that does have a full size map. Don't miss the beer brewed on the premises in the restaurant in the grounds of the Strohov Monastery - and the goulash is fab as well. Will go back - no question.
Brilliant Hotel

Great Location with clean, updated and comfortable rooms. Loved the heated floors in the WC. Very stylish public areas. This is an extremely quiet hotel. We stayed over the long Easter weekend and the place was booked full, yet we never heard noise coming from anywhere. Friendly staff, free internet use and a great breakfast buffet is included with your stay. Well worth it.
A great hotel

I stayed at this hotel for two nights with a friend in a superior double room with twin beds (booked through expedia along with flight) and have to highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Prague for the first time. The hotel and rooms are immaculate; bed and duvets were extremely comfortable and clean, flat screen TV, air-conditioned and bathroom was very nice too. Rooms were decent size, not small, and well lit. It is a classy hotel, very nice and clean, staff are so helpful and friendly and the restaurant serves a delicious buffet breakfast. In addition, there are two PCs in the lobby with free internet access. The hotel is in a nice quiet area just next to the Powder Tower and centrally located in the Old Town i.e. Prague 1 (5-7mins walk to the Old Town Square or Wenceslas Square). Charles Bridge is another 5mins walk from the Old Town Square. The city is smallish and easily walkable plus you see more sights rather than taking the Metro, which is very clean, cool and so easy to use. From the airport, I would recommend the Cedaz shuttle vans which would cost £5-6 per person to be dropped off at the hotel or £2-3 if you get dropped off at the Nam Republisky (Powder Tower) metro station, which is a few 100ft from the hotel; we did not know this when we arrived and paid the extra to be dropped off at the hotel. Needless to say, we paid the lower fare when we left. The ride takes 20-25mins. If there was to be one negative thing to say about the hotel then I would say it was the massage room, which is small and apparently has thin walls as I could hear people on the other side but hey, it only cost £25 for an hour massage which was well worth it. You will not be disappointed with this hotel.
Not just baroque, you know

Many people think of Prague as just being a medieval Old Town with a very big castle attached. Well, if you keep your eyes peeled and know where to look, Prague has some stunning Art Nouveau architecture and interiors. Better even than Brussels, maybe?
Oh, and it also has lots of cheap cafes and restaurants full of other people who like to drink too much. (Have put some of our cheapie eating finds in the restaurant tips.) Sometimes this is funny, but the aftermath is a bit pongy (see my warnings tip). We visited on a very hot weekend at the end of August, so it's probably not as smelly when the weather is a bit colder.
We stayed at a marvellous hotel, K&K Hotel Central, which as its name suggests is in the centre, just east of Old Town. It's also a very important Art Nouveau building in its own right, and we had a gorgeous room with decorative sunflowers in plasterwork all around the ceiling. Highly recommended (see hotel tip).
