I have booked rooms for a group of 7 adults
Received last confirmation for my reservations 3 days before arriving and everything was in order.
Whenarrived, found that our reservation is cancelled, because they had a big group arriving...
We were offered another hotel which was no way a proper substitute.
Furthermore, the clerk told us that our second reservation (10 days later - 6 Jun) is also not valid!!!
After being thrown out, we have spent a lot of time looking for a decent hotel, carrying our luggage after a long sleepless night and a long flight.
When at last we found a hotel, we had to pay more then we had planned. We had a lot of grief, expenses and time wasting.
Unique Quality: Un proffesional staff
this is renewed hotel, in the heart of the historical Prague quarter Mala Strana (Lesser Town) on Kampa island, beside the water-wheel of Velkoprevorsky Mill on Certovka branch.
it's really quite place to spend relaxing nights far from noise, but really in the heart of the city, few minutes walking from Metro and from main actractive places.
breakfast is good, room clean.
you'll not find luxury...furniture is essential, tv is small, but there is nice view on the Moldava river.
there is no conditionate air, so in summer room could be a bit hot.
Unique Quality: free internet access in the hotel hall
luggage safekeeping
Private Bathroom
Hair Dryer
Satellite Tv (small)
Telephone
Minibar (not a fridge)
safe deposit box
Directions: Kampa Island
This hotel is a real find. The location on Kampa Island is ideal. Quiet and peaceful with a lovely park adjacent, yet very close to everything. Several excellent restaurants within 100 yards where a superior meal can be had for $10-15 or less. A previous review mentioned renovation and construction noise, poor breakfast, non english speaking staff etc. However, the renovation is completed. Rooms are bright and like new. Room furniture is Scan modern. Bathrooms are up to date with new fixtures, hair dryer, etc. English capabiity
of desk staff varies from passable to quite good. All are friendly and eager to please. Breakfast was a buffet of good quality--boiled eggs, sausage, lunch meat, cheeses, dry cereal, rolls, various spreads, etc. There is still some construction going on at the Estonian Embassy next door that begins about 8:30 in the morning on weekdays. It can't be heard in the rooms at the back of the hotel, which are also the most desirable because of their views. It was not a problem. We spent 7 nights here. After November 1st ,the rates changed from 2557 crowns per night to 1557. A bargain.
Unique Quality: Two things abouty this hotel are unique and exceptional. The first is that the hotel is entirely non smoking. A real plus for me. The second is that room 110 and its bathroom fully meet US (ADA) acessibility standards for persons with disabilities including wheelchair. There is a wheelchair lift from the hotel front door to the room door. However there remains a 3" curb at the hotel sidewalk and another 3" step to the fron door. No ramp.
Rooms at the rear of the hotel have very nice views. The top floor (4th) has views over the rooftops to the castle and one of the Charles Bridge towers. The lower rooms overlook the canal and park.
Directions: Male Strana district 1.
Kampa Island is directly under the Charles bridge which can be accessed by stairs or ramp.
Great hotel, very helpful and friendly staff.Bed very hard, even with copious amounts of Czech beer ..I didnt sleep very well...Not enough beer i hear you shout !!!!!
Breakfast wasnt too much to write home about,But I would stay there again.
It took me a while to find the place, not lit up at all, even the staff in the very nearby restaurants didnt know where it was !!!!!
Unique Quality: Wonderful location,very impressed.
Directions: About 250 metres from Charles Bridge.
Arrived 18th Sept. Hotel allegedly "opened" 10th Sept. Nice room but featureless. Lift "being worked on"... 5 floors !!!! Hand rails on stairs not fastened in place. Breakfast fare very limited. Im sure I recognised the "ham???" and cheese every morning. Staff very. errr.. quiet. English must be their 5th or 6th language.. and they are still learning how to get past "hello". This hotel is being renovated. Noisy and outside of the bedrooms its still being worked on. The adjoining buildings are full of scaffolding, noisy, & have early start workmen.
Not a place I would recommend....... yet. That said Kampa Island is good.
Unique Quality: Facilities!!!!!!! Guess I missed these.. maybe coz they dont exist.
Directions: Walk the Charles bridge from main town. Over river, keep left. Steps down to Kampa Island square.. few nice bars.. Kampa Gardens hotel. Dont bother. Find somewhere else. Kamap Island is nice.
Has anyone stayed at Hotl Vinoh? I'm looking for a nice place to stay that isn't to expensive. Also if anyone knows a good prague cheap hotel search engine or web site I would appreciate it. Thanks
Sorry - don't know, but would like to know also...
Hi We stayed at Hotel St John ( Jana), very central to tram and metro, inner city, an old rectory converted to a Pension/ Hotel about 3 years ago, as good as a 4 star hotel, but not the price. Have photos and details on my Prague Pages.
Good Luck, Mikebb
Try the Hotel Kampa Garden. It is on Kampa Island which is under the Charles Bridge. It's an ideal location. The hotel is newly renovated (last September). We stayed (2 couples)there a few months ago for seven nights and were very pleased both with the rooms, the very reasonable price and the location. Check out the reviews on TripAdvisor. They are all accurate. The last one is mine. Google the hotel as well, the pictures are also accurate and you will get the latest rates. Note that the hotel is completely non smoking. A plus for me, maybe not for others.
Thank you, I will check it out.
Thank you great home page. If I ever get with the technology I'll do the same. Thanks
