Yasmin Hotel

I stayed in the hotel Yasmin last year, June 2006. The hotel is a modern boutique hotel situated in a great location. it is about 5 -10 mins walk to the prague clock tower and old town sq. The service and amenities in hotel is good. The room is very clean - almost clinical.
The gym needs some improvement though- the equipments are not up to date.

Hotel Berlin

Hotel Berlin is a little out of the way as far as tourist attractions, but close to the Andel metro station which is only a 5 min ride from Wenceslas Square.

It is a newer hotel with new furnishings and a 24-hour reception. The neighborhood, Smichov, isn't as nice as some of the touristy areas. I didn't feel as safe in this area at night as in the rest of Prague.

Unique Quality: Rooms are clean and comfortable staff is friendly. All rooms have satellite TV and minibar. The helpfulness of the staff was probably the best aspect of this hotel.

Plain but spacious, clean and friendly

This hotel is plainly decorated but rooms are spacious, clean and well-equipped. Bathrooms are modern and the place was renovated fairly recently. Prices are good, including the nini-bar. It is near tramlines and a good selections of resturants.

Recommended and I would stay there again.

Unique Quality: Good value overall.

Andel area

by rchew

Hi
I have another question I would appreciate help with. Has anyone stayed in the Andel area before? I am considering staying at La Boutique / Hotel Berlin...near the Andel station. Just wondering how that area is... is it a safe area?

Thanks

No problems with the area near the Andel Metro station. It is a typical Praha neighborhood. I know nothing about your hotel though.

Hi,

I'm working in that area and live nearby. I would say it has same safety level as anywhere else in Prague. I didn't had any problems during my 5 years stay or heard of anybody having trouble. There are several night tram/bus services conecting at Andel metro station (closed at night) so there are people around at any time of the night.
Area is rather dull, excellent public transportation possibilites. Vltavska street near your hotel is busy, not sure about noise in your hotel.

Have nice time!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply about the Andel area. Just wondering, you mentioned the Andel metro station is closed at night? Doesn't metro run till 11pm or something? I plan on taking the metro for most of the stay..so I was hoping to be able to get back from town by metro in the evening.

Thanks

Sorry,

By "night" I was meaning "very late night". Last train from centre (Mustek station) to Andel leaves 23:54.

www.supermapy.cz (unfortunately only in Czech) is electronic map site, they have also metro/bus/tram routes indicated:
Metro=A,B,C
numbers- 1-59 = trams, <100 = bus.
Enter adress in the search line or just zoom by "drawing" rectangle in area of interest.

http://www.dpp.cz/en/ provides searches for timetables or routes from location to location - in English.

Good luck

Appologies on mistake:
1-59= trams
over 100 = bus
