Stayed at the Leonardo for 3 days in february and had a great experience. The hotel was very clean, the staff courtious and very informative. There was something for everyone during b'fast. I would definately stay there again.

This was one of the few hotels in Prague that had a room for a family (2 adults/2 kids). We stayed in a junior suite and was spacious, newly decorated. Comfortable king size bed plus a good quality fold out couch. Breakfast very good quality. Location perfect - in a quiet street, but minutes from the bridge etc. Quite expensive, but worth it.
I took my first trip to Prague in May 2005, and we stayed at the Leonardo after reading several reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel gets high marks for location. It's about 3 blocks from the Charles Bridge, which makes it centrally located, and it's also on a quiet side street which for us is a plus. Even after the city of Prague went crazy when the Czech Republic beat Canada for the world hockey championships, it was still quiet enough on the street to get some sleep. The hotel itself was ok. The room was a 2 story loft, with a quite steep staircase to get to the beds and a very strange decor of exposed wooden beams jutting out of the walls and ceilings from all directions. (It was quite easy to run square into one of these things if you did not pay enough attention.) The staff was pleasant but not particularly knowledgeable or helpful about the city. They could not provide us even basic information about how to get to a train station to take a day trip outside of Prague. One plus of the hotel was that it had a good morning breakfast (included in the price). But I think we'd probably stay somewhere else the next time we go to Prague (which I hope is soon, because the city is terrific).
Great Location. Our room looked out across the river with views of Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. Huge room. Nice size bathroom. Staff were very accomodating. Good continental and English breakfast. Good value for money. Looking forward to going back soon.
We stayed at the Leonardo in May 2005. We used the Cedaz door-to-door service from the airport, cheaper than a taxi, and it worked a treat. Arrived at the hotel 12 noon, ie before official check-in time, but no problem. Very friendly reception staff, quickly up in the lift to 3rd floor room looking onto courtyard, very quiet and pleasant. Small kitchen area. Beams and very high ceiling, partly sloping. The whole hotel was clean and had a good feel to it. Excellent service, super breakfast. Would stay there again anytime.
So-so, not to say less... Noisy street, three star compared with the EC standard, nothing special though obviously spammed via Tripadvisor. Better tips are Golden Wheel (in Hradcany), Elite, or in a lower category of price U Medviku (close to Tesco). Beware of the pickpockets in the tourist areas (Metro, tram, Old City, dpt stores...). Good restaurants in Prague: La Scene, U Modre Ruze, Arzenal (quite expensive); U Medviku, Chez Marcel (mid-range prices).
This was the final stop on our 3 city eastern European trip and we were most surprised by this little gem of a hotel tucked one block in from the water front, very close to the Charles Bridge. From the moment we walked into the room, we felt like we had arrived in a 5 (not 4) star American (not European) hotel room. It's been a while since I've seen chocolates on the pillows and terry cloth bath robes in the bathroom waiting for us. There is not only the usual minibar, but a hot plate, sink and enough utensils to set up a meal if one had carried in some food from the small grocery located about 3 blocks to the south of the hotel. You cannot turn your head in the common areas of the hotel without seeing a piece of artwork, sculpture, or ornate iron staircase banister. There is an inner courtyard and a resident grand piano. The annex restaurant serves a meal on a par to the best in the city and the hot buffet breakfast is taken in the wine cellar which consists of 2 vaulted ceiling rooms with pleasant lighting and decor. The price of our stay was hidden in the cost of our multi-city package, but we did learn that the cost of one night with breakfast for 2 was 3950 CZK, about 125 euros, which makes this hotel the best bargain by far. We were there in early June, 2005.
When it was time to go to the airport, we were given the hotel taxi with a flat fee which was very reassuring, given all the tales we had read about eastern European taxi drivers.
We endorse this hotel most heartily and hope you enjoy it as much as us.
My husband and myself visited Prague over the August Bank holiday weekend, It was magnificent. Nothing can prepare you for the breathtaking beauty of Prague. Every corner, every street reveals more mind blowing vistas and buildings.
We chose to stay at The Leonardo as its location seemed to be quite central and it was reasonably priced.
The hotel itself is a little non descript from the exterior but inside the rooms are warm, clean and spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed linens, towels, bathrooms etc are to a very high standard and bathrobes and slippers are a nice touch in all the rooms.
The breakfast room and restuarants are very authentically Czech and beautifully renovated. The breakfasts themselves were reasonable, though the hot breakfast was the same 3 items each morning. The location is excellent, just a couple of blocks away from the old town square. Waking up after an afternoon siesta to a man playing the piano and a fountain tinkling away in the courtyard was lovely.
The strange thing about this hotel is the air of 'lifelessness' that abounds. it surprised me as the hotel seems so perfectly arranged but just lacks any atmosphere, but I think this could be due largely to the surly attitude of a lot of the staff. Our chambermaid and the doorman were lovely and very kind, helpful and friendly. The desk staff a different matter entirely..
I had emailed the hotel to request a river view room to which they had agreed, I was most dissapointed to find that when we got there we were told we could only have the river view rooms if we paid £50 per night to upgrade, Both myself and my husband thought this was a ridiculously large increase and so we declined. This seemed such a shame as one must assume that as we declined to upgrade the room it lay unused anyway.
On the Saturday evening we returned to the hotel, hoping to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine in the bar, it was closed on a Saturday night, with no explanation which we also found dissapointing.
To summarise if we were visiting Prague again I would not choose to stay at the Leonardo, When you stay in the city you will come across so many places to stay that are so charming and full of character you would not choose to stay in this really quite souless hotel again.
Whilst there try a restuarant called Bella Vista this is up near the vineyards around the monastery, the views there are breathtaking and encompass the whole of Prague city we spent a lovely afternoon there. The food is very good. We ate at a different restuarant every lunchtime and evening and never had a dissapointing meal, the food is superb.
We travelled around one afternoon in a horse and carriage which was a fantastic experience.
We loved our visit to Prague and will definetly be there again in the not to distant future. We fell in love with this City.
I stayed at the Leonardo with my mother from 31st August 2005 to 2nd September 2005. Only 2 nights. The hotel was acceptable and the rooms were comfortable, although we asked to change rooms after the first night as we had been given a room at the front of the hotel, which was lovely but extremely noisy as the road is cobbled. Once we'd moved to the middle of the hotel, it was extremely quiet.
I found the staff helpful and polite and the location was ideal for seeing all the sights.
It did say that tea/coffee facilities were provided in the rooms, but we didn't have any. I asked at the desk and we were given a kettle and some coffee, the rest I secreted at breakfast.
We weren't provided with bathrobes/slippers as the previous review and I didn't know that the hotel had river view rooms as it didn't appear to be positioned on the main road.
The hotel was average and pleasant but wouldn't stay there again.
