Good and cheap accommodation in Prague are the botels, they are boats on the river, next to all attractions. I stayed at the Botel Albatross once, other ones are the Vodnik and Admiral. You should not stay in a botel if you get dizzy easily. When you look out of the window and right onto the water it can happen that you feel like in a passing train, the water racing, or you racing LOL But you get used to it. Botels are also quiet places, thus great for a good nights sleep. I stayed here with my sister, sharing a twin private room. It's a new hostel and so is still clean and fresh. The decor is bright and friendly, the rooms simple but comfortable. Our room was on the first floor, which seems to be the 'quiet' floor. Double windows opened out onto a flat roof which was inaccessible from outside. This meant we could leave them wide open all night - a bonus during a very hot week in June. There is a shower and toilet on each floor - only once did I find the shower occupied and only had to wait 5 minutes or so for my turn. The lounge and basement are comfortable places to enjoy a few Czech beers (which are served at a small bar at reception) or to use one of the two computers with free internet access. The kitchen, though well equipped and clean, was way too small for the number of guests, though it is so cheap to eat out in Prague it wasn't a problem for us. We both enjoyed our stay there and would definately choose it again.
The view from our room on the first floor was the back of Zizkov Hill. Just trees really, but it made it secluded and pretty, with birds hopping about on the flat roof outside. Imperial Cafe by mi5chelle I spent three nights here in Sept 2004 and was very impressed with the cafe and jazz music. However, since its not so expensive, youth groups come and can be quite noisy.
Downside is that bathrooms and toilets are in the hall and not in your room. There is a plate of donuts on the counter of the cafe and if someone buys the plate, things can get crazy as people throw the donuts at other customers. Live Jazz music on Sat & Sun nights. Odburo St. Apt. by suzannehye Prague Holiday offers a variety of apartments throughout Prague. In 2003 I stayed at Apartment Principe, located on Odburu St. It was small - consisting of a kitchen, living room, bathroom with toilet and shower, and loft with 2 beds. A balcony had a lovely view of the castle, and we could also see the clock tower and Old Town Hall Tower. This year we had a large apt. on Zitna, near Wenceslas Square, in the Apartment Salamander. We had a small balcony looking over Stepanka St., a kitchen with stove, sink, fridge, microwave and oven and all utensils, a powder room with toilet, a large bathroom with a huge porcelain tub, dressing room, two large bedrooms, another large room off the living room and kitchen, a large living room with tv. Pleasantly furnished, but not luxurious...there were 7 beds. The major drawback of both apartments was the noise from the street. Traffic is constant and people seem to always be about, and the later it is, the louder they get! If you want to have a home base where you can eat breakfast, have the occasional take-out meal or cook something up, the apartment idea can be great. These were in real apartments with Czech people, not dedicated to travelers. The staff at Prague Holiday is young and very helpful. We would stop by to pick up clean towels, toilet paper, get directions, etc. They arranged for our airport pick-up and delivery, and gave us one trip for free. They also discounted our stay quite a bit for using them again. As I said, these are NOT luxury accomodations - there always seems to be some little things wrong, like a shade that wouldn't open, a doorknob that fell off, etc., but the price is right and it's really nice to be able to have an apartment with kitchen and hang loose!
It was lovely to be able to get up in the morning and have the breakfast we wanted, for pennies. We would stop at the Tesco (see my other travel tip) and pick up muesli, milk, yogurt, fruit, bread, eggs and coffee, and be able to have a leisurely breakfast in our jammies. Another night, when we were all whipped, we walked across the street and picked up Chinese carryout. Two nights we had a regular Czech feast after stopping at Tesco and loading up on about 10 different cheeses, 5 different meats, fruit, olives, bread and crackers. We also had Czech champagne and beer, and played card games at the kitchen table. Try that a motel! One apt. we had also had a dishwasher, one did not. One had a microwave, the other did not. Our small apt. (loft bedroom) on Odboru was about $65US per night, our large apt. on Zita (advertised as 3 bedrooms) was about $100 US per night. by scookie16 Stayed in this recently opened 4 star hotel for a week in January 2004. The location was excellent - just off Wenceslas Square and a short walk into the old town. Room was huge and beautifully decorated and furnished - very clean and comfortable. Heating was tremendous as temperatures plummeted outside ! Staff very attentive and friendly - great bar. Breakfast was tremendous with choice of hot and cold buffet. Would definitely stay here again.
Breakfast superb. Rooms extremely spacious and very warm and comfortable. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Zitna 46-572, , Prague 12000Directions: New town, just off Wenceslas Square.

Interier by jasminka25 We have just returned from our short stay in Prague. Your services proved to be excellent. We hope to return next year and we will most likely use your services again.
Hotel Imperial, is the former luxury hotel built in 1914. Its secession interior ranks it among the most beautiful monuments in Europe.

Interior Hotel Olea-New Town by bpwillet The way we chose this hotel was due to a web service called "interacta". They are a nice and comprehensive, web based accomodations site that allows you to check out many different hotels in their "inventory". The facilites were very clean and were a lot roomier than I thought they would be. The room was more like a large suite with a kitchen and two large open areas. It was conveniently located near a major Metro stop which made getting around the city very convenient. They also arranged airport transfers.
The hotel has a restaurant attached to it called the Pink Floyd Cafe. That is where they serve breakfast and the staff works the bar at night. It is convenient and a quaint little place to spend some time.

Very nice hotel. Nice furniture. Good breakfast, with "eat all you can" table, with additional free-to-use coffee machine. Located outside of the city center, but only 10min ride with bus or tram.

by katmag When you see this beautiful fountain, you know that you're by the JuniorHotel that I stayed at. The surrounding area is truly gorgeous, as you can see in the background. You will feel like royalty in Prague. Theme: Hostel
