Petrin Hill.
by Maurizioago
This beautiful green area is located in Mala Strana.
One of its highlight is the Zrcadlove Bludiste; a nice building with a mirror maze. Inside you can see yourself very large, with your head very tall etc. Besides the mirror maze there is a diorama. It is a huge painting about a battle of the Praguese against the Swedish.
Near the Zrcadlove Bludiste there is a small copy of the Eiffel Tower.
You can go up the hill by foot or by cable car. This starts from Ujezd ul. and makes a stop halfway where there is the cafe-restaurant Nebozizek. From there you can enjoy a very beautiful lanscape over the hill and the castle area.

ok. there is something about the alcohol here that can get tourists (and locals) every time. i have seen it happen, and have helped cause it to happen :o)
basically - there are three main drinks. Beer (Pivo), Becherovka and Slivovice (which can come in many other flavors like merunkovice, hrusovice, etc...just depends on fruit used.) ...oh yeah...wait! a 4th - Fernet!
if you go out, and are offered any/all of these, you should definitely try them, but be careful of mixing too much of all of them. !
becherovka - used by czech grandmothers (babicky) to cure all ailments, to me, it has a clove taste. herbally...quite nice - to cure a cough, or just to drink. many times mixed with tonic - called a becher and tonic
slivovice (plum flavoured). the stuff you buy is less potent than the homemade stuff you are sometimes offered! :) taken in shots. used as a welcoming drink at times. or after dinner drink..
fernet - normal or citrus. often combined with tonic. this is an aquired taste drink...and i have not aquired a taste for it. the citron one (In My Opinion) is better. you do NOT want to get sick off of this stuff. believe you me!

Having seen the pictures posted by VT members, it was interesting to see how additions by numerous visitors transformed the look of the wall in a matter of months. It took 2 jaunts into the area to find the wall. The end of the Charles Bridge was blocked off due to construction. Found it pretty easy going down the steps on the left into Na Kampe, walking about halfway down the square and turning right, followed the road to the next intersection, turned left and there it was on the left.
Escape from the crowds

Prague can be a very crowded city filled with tourists. But there are ways to escape the crowds. Walking along the water front and the canels just outside of the Old Town area can be a welcome escape. As you can tell from this picture the waterfront is very beautiful. Enjoy the crowds. Enjoy the tourist attractions and then take some time to just enjoy the beauty of the quieter side of Prague.
