Exchanging Money
by Frisbeeace
Prague was by far the most risky place to exchange my money. Most offices will cheat you in some way, either with hidden commissions or rates that don't match those shown in the street.
The most reliable and convenient place is located in Celetna 3 just steps from the Old Town Sq. Check the picture.
Remember that there is a flat fixed commission so the more you change, the better the rate is.
St. Nicholas Church (I) - interior
by yooperprof
The interior of St. Nicholas Church is a spectacular example of eighteenth century roccoco design. It presents a frenzied mix of diverse architectural and structural elements, blended together as if in a cuisinart.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away
by cruisingbug
Star Wars was playing in the big-screen movie theaters in Prague in the summer of 1991. Just think how much Western culture they had to catch up on! I'm sure that the Czech people also appreciated the whole Rebel Alliance Beats Big Bad Empire storyline. Since I don't speak a lick of Czech, the only thing different I remember was Luke was translated to "Luko".
armadni muzeum (army museum)
by doug48
the czech army museum is a very interesting place to visit for students of 20th century history. the museum has an excellent collection of uniforms, small arms, and light artillery from WWI, WWII and the soviet occupation. the museum traces the history of the czech army from before WWI to modern times. the collection of nazi germany uniforms and small arms is the best i have ever seen. the museum is located in a soviet era building next to vitkov park in the zizkov district of prague. from the train station take wilsonova street to husitska street. cross the railroad tracks then to u pamatnika. u pamatnika is a small lane up the hill to the museum.
Petrin Hill
by nhcram
Petrin Hill is a favourite place to walk amongst the inhabitants of Prague and tourists alike. There was a church here as early as the Middle Ages.
The Funicular that runs alongside the hill was constructed for the Jubilee Exhibition in 1891. The service for passengers runs several times a day.
There is a small basic cafe both inside the tower and also outside.
