Good location, pleasant and welcoming

We took the suite on the first floor - a large bedroom with an adjoining sitting room, toilet and separate washroom.
The room was spacious and we likes it very much.
Breakfast was served to us to the room, and was tasty and satisfactory (the local jam is somewhat tasteless...)
The reception team was friendly and helpful.

Unique Quality: Very close to the center - 5 minutes walk from Waclav square.

Nice Budget Hotel

He rolled into Prague without any plan and without any hotel reservations at all. What the heck, we were up for a little adventure. So, we after walking across the train station towards the tourist center, we met a guy who worked as sort of an agent for this hotel. Usually I would just blow off this guy. But everyone has to make a living, right? So, he convinced us that he had just the place we were looking for. So, we took a flyer and he led us to the hotel; through the stairs to the metro and down the street from the metro. Sure enough, the dude came through. We were shown to rooms off to the side that shared a common hallway. I guess they called these their "apartments". They were spartan, but very clean and comfortable. Cable TV, nice clean W/C, friendly staff and a computer that we could use for free to log onto the Internet.

Unique Quality: The price was right and the location was very convenient. Clean rooms and freindly staff. All in all a very good experience!

Great staff/service, safety, central location

The staff of this hotel was the best! We were on a first name basis with them by the time we left. They are all energetic and very helpful with tips about the city and how to get from point A to point B.

All of the facilities were great and the place was clean. The breakfast was GREAT--filling and complete. The advertisement listed every room having a TV set, but ours didn't. (But then again who wants to see TV? We were in Prague!!!) The internet service was down while we were there, but the staff claimed they had someone working on the problem. That wasn't really too much of a nuisance since there are internet cafes all over Prague.

When I go back to Prague, I definitely want to stay there again.

Unique Quality: It is just around the corner from the I.P. Pavlova metro station and a tram stop, so a gateway to the rest of the city is just steps away. Also the Prague Lion is across the street from a police substation, which made us feel a little safer coming back late at night.

Prague Lion Hotel

We stayed in a hostel portion of Prague Lion hotel. A room for two, with two twin beds, cost about $45 in July (height of the season, I think) - breakfast included, bathroom/shower in the hall. It is located in Praha 2, within 10-15 minute walk from the center. The hotel was ok - but beware of the police station or hospital (or both) across the street - siren noise at night is pretty frequent. However, if you start looking for accommodations early (march-april for july trip), you'll be able to find more central hostels with more character for the same price.

Unique Quality: If the name Swejk means anything to you, check out Hostinec "U Kalicha" next door.

Q: Prague public transportation "Hello VT; I'm so confused how the 1 day or 3 days pass works. It says that you have to validate the pass/ticket before..."

A: "You validate it once and then it is good for the 24/72 hours on all public transport whether metro, bus or tram."
