The Lesser Town
by dlandt
Not as important as the Old Town, but just as pretty, the Lesser Town on the west bank of the Vltava River hosts many of the embassies and upscale restaurants and accomodations in Prague. it also hosts a lot of functioning government offices. I strolled through here early in the morning and got kind of a kick out of seeing a few motorcades as well as just window shopping and looking around. The Lesser Town is worth a stroll, though I wouldn't say there is a lot to do there. Believe it or not, I got a chuckle seeing how many high priced prostitutes seemed to be leaving the hotels in the morning.
My thoughts on Prague

Prague's old-world feel is my favorite thing about the place, you've got to visit. My fondest memory of Prague is being down in a metro station waiting for a train. All of a sudden a huge burst of wind comes out of the tunnel and everyone on the platform begins to scurry towards the tracks. What a wonderful feeling!

Shopping:
Bohemian Glass.
This is everywhere. Some has a lot of multiple cuts, but I prefer lesser work (like Waterford Glass). Of course, everyone to their own. Either way the quality is excellent and the price extremly good.
Jewish Quarter: Synagogue and Cemetery
by karensuzjo
A tour of the Jewish cemetery will lead you to the first synagogue in Prague, pictured below, and give you a history of the Jews during the Holocaust. The cemetery near one of the memorials is very beautiful. It looks unkempt, but it is only a sign of age of the headstones. The grounds of the cemetery and surrounding buidlings are well kept. After you finish the tour, there is a marketplace outside of the cemetery where you can buy Jewish keepsakes.

Take a trip up to one of the observation decks of the TV Tower. You can see up to 100 Km in the distance on a clear day. Before you decide to swear off beer forever.....yes, those are babies crawling up the sides of the tower. Some artist's idea of a joke, but kind of creepy. Open 10AM to 11PM every day.
