The good reviews are all justified

Our family of four has just spent three nights at the Riverside. We found Prague to be beautiful and this hotel to be excellent. We would repeat all the good comments in the preceding reports - well appointed; beautifully kept; very helpful staff; wonderful breakfasts.
And don't be put off by the location being slightly away from the centre of town. Transport really is easy (we used the nearby trams, especially no.17). If you want to walk, the distances are not huge. And it is actually pleasant to escape the tourist hordes at the end of the day.
Two excellent restaurants recommended by the hotel: Potrefena husa (Crazy Goose?) - 5 mins walk over the bridge; buzzing and a bit trendy; food good and very reasonable prices. U modre kachnicky (Blue Duck) - further away in Mala Strana and fairly expensive (by Prague standards); but well worth the walk and very good value by English standards; very attractive and food first rate.
Just average and not well located....

We have just been to Prague and had a lovely time and would highly recomend visiting this beautiful place to anyone. However, although the Riverside is a nice small hotel its location wasn't so good and it is overpriced in my opinion. I was drawn to it through the SLH rating, but having walked around the old town there are many more better located and better priced good hotels to choose from e.g. Hotel Pariz. I had requested the hotel to book us a table for dinner at the La Perla restaurant which they confirmed by e-mail, but upon arrival I was extremely disapointed when they notified me that my reservation was no longer at the La Perla as requested but a much dingier restaurant of a lower standard in the centre. The staff were not apologetic for messing up our evening plans, which for this standard of hotel is not acceptable.

I booked this hotel due to your contributors' consistent excellent comments. My husband and I couldn't agree more after having stayed there four nights recently. Everyone at the hotel we ran into spoke very good English and were extremely helpful with our requests. From Ana and Richard at the front desk to Otto the doorman and others, we felt so welcome and at home. The suite we stayed at was on the 5th floor looking out to the beautiful views of the Vltava river and the city. With hard wood floors, the suite had well-appointed rooms, including a separate sleeping room, very clean bathroom with luxurious white robes. To top it all, we had a hearty and healthy breakfast daily (included) that provided us with lots of energy before we ventured out into our walking tours of this very charming place. The service was impeccable especially of the breakfast team with special mention for Renata, Eva and Hana.
We did not mind having to walk a very short distance to the train stations nor to the city center.
I would definitely recommend. Our hotel experience made our visit to Prague even more memorable!
We loved it here!

We have just arrived back from this hotel which we decided upon based on the excellent reviews here.
It is a fantastic place to stay. Although rated as 5 Star there are no leisure facilities therefore you can take it from us that this rating is down to the quality of service alone!
As we arrived we were sat down in the bar and given guide books and shown maps and given advice on where to go and where to eat. Otto the porter than took us up to our room and enthused about the room and took 5mins pointing out everything. We had booked a deluxe room (river view, slightly bigger) but were given a free upgrade to a Junior Suite (having booked through a website) which was lovely. It faced both the front (river view) and side (small park view). 2 towel changes a day and maid comes into prepare the bed for the evening! That being said we did see in some of the other rooms (peeked in while the maid was changing linen...like you do!) and they also looked very nice.
People have mentioned the breakfasts and we were not disappointed. Choice of eggs, bacon and that on top of yogurts, fruit, cereal, fish, pastries. They were incredibly attentive and friendly, as soon as your empty plate has hit the table it's gone and drinks replenished with coffee or choice of types of tea. The staff were a credit to the hotel, so friendly and always smiling and making you feel welcome.
I would agree with the person who found the hotel bar pricey, we had a couple of glasses of wine before heading off to the Opera which cost us about 400K...currently nearly £10!! Tea & Coffee were fine though.
We also took the hotel recommendation of The Blue Duck (U Modre Kachnisky) on our last night. It was fantastic, beautiful food, unhurried and lovely setting inside the restaurant. We thought by UK price standards it was quite good. Glass of sparkling wine followed by bottle of wine, 3 courses and finally a Baileys all for £60. You can then turn right out of the restaurant and walk back across Charles Bridge at night and wander back to the hotel...makes a change from your usual evening stroll at home!!
Finally the hotel is a 30 minute walk from the centre of town but we liked that since the centre can get a little rowdy sometimes last thing at night.
It's a very safe walk back to the hotel late at night since it's next to the river next to a main road.
Our advice, like most people's here.....go to this hotel, it really is a beautiful small hotel, very personal with fantastic staff.

We have just returned from a three night stay at the riverside hotel and it was amazing. I was delighted to discover that our "standard room" was clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished. My only criticism is that there was very limited wardrobe space for a lady who is unable to pack light!
I only made it down to breakfast on one occasion (due to the enormous cosy bed!) and I was greeted with a wonderful array of fresh fruit, meat, cheeses, cereals, bread and the option of a cooked breakfast.
The staff was professional, friendly and always delighted to help book restaurants, shows, etc.
Enjoy your trip!
PS. If you fancy a nice meal go to U Modre Kachnicky (The Blue Duckling). Expensive but delicious.
