Just out of the centre..........

A minute's walk from Metro I.P.Pavlova and the 22 and 23 trams, this hotel is ideally-placed for getting around the city whilst not actually in the busy middle (Wenceslas Square is about 10/15 minutes walk). It's on a busy major road (Sokolska) but the rooms at the back are fairly quiet. The reception/breakfast room is quadruple-glazed, and I imagine the rooms at the front are too; fine in cooler weather, but I suspect they'd be very noisy indeed if you had the window open.

My standard twin room (for just me) was clean and recently refurbished, with en-suite/double glazing/room thermostat/TV/safe etc (though you have to pay a daily charge of 2 euros for the latter). Not much of a view (overlooking the backs of other buildings) but I only want somewhere to sleep really, so it was fine.

Breakfast is standard Continental: meat/cheese/rolls/some cakes/toast/hard-boiled eggs etc The coffee comes from a machine; drinkable, but not the ideal.

There's a 'fitness room' in the basement and a free Internet access computer (though the server was down when I tried). And a lift (5 floors of rooms).

Reception staff were courteous and helpful, with sound English (just as well, for my Czech is appalling).

A reasonable, safe hotel in an excellent location (as long as you don't want to be right in the heart of the city).

Q: Prague public transportation "Hello VT; I'm so confused how the 1 day or 3 days pass works. It says that you have to validate the pass/ticket before..."

A: "You validate it once and then it is good for the 24/72 hours on all public transport whether metro, bus or tram."
