Top Hotel Prague & Congress Center

I´ve been in the TOP HOTEL PRAHA , a four star hotel, It is situates a little bit outside of prague , but is very cheap and good .

i booked this hotel from gtahotels.com and i found it very good value for my three day stay in february 2006 there is a bus stop outside the hotel that takes you to the metro station about 10 minutes away the metro station is called chodov and it is 8 stops to the centre of prague and you get off at the musium the servise is very good the hotel has a 24 hours sportsbar 2 restaurants swiming pool a lovely garden in the summer room clean and tidy staff helpful

Unique Quality: good pool good garden in the summer

Directions: bus outside hotel takes you to the metro station called chodov take the metro for 7or8 stops and get off at the musium in the heart off the city were you can buy a ticket for use on all types of transport

The hotel complex is situated in a quiet area in the Prague 4 City District

A standard room includes television (TV+SAT), minibar, direct calling, W.C. and bathroom, and connection to the Internet.

Prices are extemely good out of season.

Breakfast isn't very good here but is included.

It takes around 45 minutes to get to town which isn't good if your in a rush.

I thought it was worth it because i don't really like the b+b type hotels.

Covered tennis courts with synthetic surface, Bowling alleys, Casino

Directions: From city centre: Take tube C line to Chodov station– change for bus No. 115 to end stop outside hotel.

From the airport: Bus No. 119 to Dejvická, change for tube A line to Muzeum station, change to C line to Chodov then take bus No. 115 to Keblovská.

I was in Prague on business and I've attended a conference in this hotel. So I thought: Great! 7 days in Prague, in 4 stars hotel, what more can i want. But, then the nightmare began. Our room was the biggest room I've ever seen but didn't have anything in it (small wardrobe without doors and with NO safe deposit box!, only one chair, no curtains on the bathtub, no shampoo, minibar war broken, awful smell coming from the pool under and what else do you need?). I have to mention that this was EXECUTIVE room (yeah right!). First night, I left my room for only 15 minutes to go to the reception and left my luggage and all my things in the room. But, in that 15 minutes somebody entered my room (with the electronic key!) and stole my wallet. Unfortunately, I noticed that in the morning and it was too late because somebody already managed to use my credit cards in some perfume shop.. But the worst of all was that the hotel staff, including the hotel manager, didn't react at all (so I think that this happens there very often!!!). They have so many people working there that I really don't know how they can be controlled in any way. Normally, I changed the hotel immediately and all they had to say to that was: OK! I made a promise that I'll do the best of me to leave as much comments and bad reviews on the internet but they didn't look too worried (meant you can go but the others will come). Oh my god, 4 stars hotel and they treat their guests like this. WTF! Never, never again...

This hotel is very nice with excellent rooms, a casino, several dining facilities, and several bars. The only problem I ran into was the quality of service. Waiters in the hotel's restaraunt and bartenders tended to be extremely rude. Also, eating and drinking there is expensive, but this is to be expected in a "fancy" hotel.

We checked into this hotel with a group of high school band students and spent three long days here. The accomodations were terrible and worst of all a group of Italian high school students (170 to be exact) were there spending a break under the supervision of only 7 adults. They were loud at all hours of the night, smoking everywhere so that smoke would roll into your room under the door, slammed doors, hung out of windows, and it did not matter how many times you called for security I don't think there was any. It was like living in a frat house. The males would invite all our high school kids to parties all night, knock on doors waking them up, and generally scared a lot of them. They ran around the hallways in their underwear and nothing was ever done about it.

The food was o.k., but the rooms are certainly not even 1 star quality. Our shower never drained, we were left no towels, the beds were like rocks, and the walls were paper thin.

It was the worst experience I have ever had at any hotel and I would NEVER recommend it to anyone.

Unique Quality: There were NO outstanding characteristics about this hotel except for the fact that it was terrible.

We travelled with a large party in Oct 07 and were initially impressed by the facilities and the décor.

Whilst we were out the next day, many of our rooms were robbed without signs of forced entry. It initially proved difficult to get the hotel to take sufficient interest or to involve the police. Only by the intervention of our Czech speaking guide did we get anywhere, and then the hotels own response was poor. By the way, few of our rooms had safes.

Security appears minimal although I did see one chap patrolling the reception area!

The location of the hotel is a bus and metro ride away from the town centre and the immediate surrounding area is a little downmarket to say the least. The hotel itself is huge and takes up a lot of the site.

Catering is equally on the bulk scale and whilst the choice is reasonable the quality is average. Also you will get to recognise the dishes and perhaps the contents which seem to reappear the next day as well.

This hotel could be good but it has still to adjust to even the most modest modern tourists expectations when something goes wrong.

Unique Quality: The facilities look great and with the right management and approach, this could become a very good hotel in time.
However I would look somewhere else in the meantime if visiting Prague.

I recently stayed in this hotel for a short 3 night break. I had read some very unfavourable reports about this establishment elsewhere on the internet, but found the hotel to be very good. I myself work in a hotel (night porter, in charge of the establishment) and therefore had an 'insider's' view.
The Top Hotel is very big, over 1000 rooms and caters mostly for large parties, particularly young teenagers on school trips, older guests on coach trips, business delegates attending conferences. In the height of the summer season there could be as many as 1500 guests, so it is very busy. When I was there, there were about 80 guests and therefore things were less hectic.
The reception staff were very polite and helpful, as they should be in any hotel, and the housekeeping staff were equally curteous. Granted, the hotel was not very busy, consequently, the staff had more time to attend to guests' needs than they might during the peak period.
I stayed 'half-board' (breakfast and evening meal, both buffet-style). I could envisage a lot of problems with this arrangement when the hotel is really busy, particularly breakfast as everyone has to help themselves so it will entail a bit of a wait. A similar scenario could be expected in the evening.
Foodwise, the fayre was typical for central/eastern European countries. Perhaps not to everyone's taste, but palatible.
The accommodation was adequate, but once again was to a central/eastern European standard and perhaps not quite what Western Europeans would be used too. The bed-linen was changed every day, so too the towels in the en-suite bathroom.

Unique Quality: This hotel also has a leisure complex attached, but entrance is not included in the price of the accommodation. The Casino is fine and so is the Casino bar, prices are what you would expect to pay in a similar establishment in the city centre. There are a number of places to dine,but they did seem a bit expensive.
Without doubt, the crowning glory of the Top Hotel Praha is the reception area. Sumptiously decorated with marble floors, modern works of art adorning the walls, designer boutique shops etc, it has a very affluent atmosphere. However, once you leave this area the decor is noticaibly inferior. Neverthess, the actual price of the bed-and-breakfast is great value.
One drawback is the location and vicinity. By public transport it is about an hour away from the airport, and about 25 minutes from the town centre. The vicinity is typical prefabricated 1970's 'brutalism', drab concrete slabs etc.
All in all, I would recommend this hotel for visitors on a short stay. Moreover, I feel it would be more enjoyable if used out-of-season. For value for money it is very good.

Upon arriving outside the Top Hotel our first impressions were very good, the hotel and its surrounding areas are very well maintained and clean. The reception hall and bar area is amazing; from one end to the other is decorated beautifully with polished gold, elegant paintings and fountains. The receptionists greeted us with friendly smiles and supplied very helpful information about the city of Prague, bus schedule and more. The corridors leading to all the rooms are easy to navigate, the lifts were in good working order and all very clean. The Standard room was surprisingly large and well presented; it had everything we needed including dresser with chair and small TV, two night stands with lamp, wardrobe and shoe rack/table thingy, bathroom with including good strong shower and wide sink, shower gel and hand wash, two tumblers, all of which were very good quality and clean. The only issue was with the bed as it was a little hard, but nothing important. The room did not have an iron, but there is an ironing service available.
The main breakfast hall is very large, well decorated and obviously very clean. The food buffet and is fairly traditional mainly consisting of cheeses, cold meats, bread and butter, yoghurts, cereal, sweet cakes/muffins and also hot foot such as sausage, eggs and bacon. Also there are drinks including, various juices, coffee, hot chocolate, water etc.
There are many services within the hotel such as swimming, fitness, bowling, Internet etc, but obviously all these extras require payment, so don’t be a *** and expect these for free.
If you have paid for evening meals also as we did, you won’t be disappointed, again the food delicious (I recommend the Bolognese as starter, tastes great and loads of it) and again the service is fast and friendly.
