U Zlate Studny 'Golden Well'

by hoser_71 about U Zlate Studny 'Golden Well'

From $80-$120 a night for a big room. I loved this place. It is a small, quaint hotel with all of the luxuries. The staff was great and had an easy time talking to them.

The location is almost perfect. It's right at a fork on the royal road, so you get to open the huge windows and watch all of the people walking by. It can be a little loud at times with all of the people but I personally like to be right where everything is.

The resteraunt had great food and has an interesting story about the 'Golden Well'.

U Zlate Studny

by Razorart about U Zlate Studny

In american dollars, and this was during the 'slow' season (January), it was approximately 120 dollars per night. I almost don't want to give this one away!

There are less than 10 rooms, I believe and when you check in, they show you pictures of the rooms they have available.

Our room was gorgeous! Let me go on about the huge bathtub first. I love bathtubs and rarely can I ever afford a room with a bathtub when traveling to Europe.
The bathroom itself was easily the best that I ever had when traveling!

Our room was the size of an apartment (it was not officially a 'suite'--they have a few of those too), with a large hallway, area with a coach, minibar/refrig (drinks and snacks were very inexpensive--that is so rare, in the US, at least, where a mini bottle of wine is 10 bucks and potato chips are 2 bucks), tv and then the beds...furnishings were lovely. There were even little homey touches like novels on the bookshelves.

The building itself was very charming and immaculate. Staff were courteous.

I REALLY recommend this place.

Old Town - Karlova

This is a Restaurant and Hotel called U Zlate Studny on Karlova
I saw it on my first visit to Prague and very impressed with such a beautiful building.
I promised myself that I would stay here on a future visit, but have not done so yet.
Hopefully I will do so in the future.
I cannot offer any comment about the Restaurant or the Hotel, however it must get top marks for architectural style and location alone.

Stare mesto ( old town ) - part 2

by hundwalder

Old town square in Stare mesto is probably the most popular tourist attraction in Prague. With the exception of the winding road connecting old town square with Karluv most ( Charles Bridge ), most tourists are hesitant to walk more than two blocks outside of old town square. I don't know if they are convinced there is nothing worth seeing outside of this invisible envelope, or if possibly they are worried about getting lost on the unusually orientated streets, worried about getting mugged, or whatever. It is not possible to get lost with the great tower of Our Lady Before Tyn church in sight, and yes there are interesting things to see and do at every turn, and fascinating people to meet. Please don't be afraid to wander.

The scene in the photo is located only about 250 meters north of old town square, in the direction of the Jewish Quarter. The people shown in the photo are locals, and the hotel / restauarant shown is patronized mostly by locals. By the way, Hotel / Restaurant U Zlate Studny is one of many well preserved early Baroque buildings in Prague. It was built during the Gothic era but redesigned centuries later. Intricately detailed relief sculptures adorn the front and it is capped with a scrolled facade. Each of the ancient buildings that you will see during your stroll through Stare mesto has features setting it apart from the rest. Take the time to enjoy it all.

Romance in Prague

by nbfreein2003

I will be meeting a friend in Prague on Friday. We want to find a nice hotel that is romantic, and private. What hotel do you recommend? How much should we spend?

Hotel Europe or Esplanade hotel, both in the centre (Europe on Wenceslas square) and esplanade abt. 100 mtr from the square. How much it costs I don't know, but both hotels are in old style, which is quite romantic.
Have a nice time in Prague.

Try the " U Zlate Studny Pension". Fantastic location, lovely rooms which are great for people watching. Moderately priced.

My wife and I just returned after 9 days in Prague. We stayed at Domus Henrici, a four star inn, very private and nice, great location up the hill from the Castle on Loretanska Street. Only 8 rooms, helpful staff continental breakfast. However, if I were going again I would consider staying in an apartment above the restaurant Nebozezak. Here is the link. http://www.hotelsprague.cz/nebozizek/nebo_e.php. Great food and apparently good accomodations in a great location. The most beautiful view in the city. Hint: 1 get a 3 or 7 day transportation ticket good for all metro, tram and busses in Prague. Cheap and you don't have to worry about transportation any more. (you can get it at the main metro station. 2: Get the Eyewitness Travel Guide Prague. By far the best and makes getting around in Praque simple. Finally, if you want to see musems, get the Prague Pass that gets you into almost all museums, palaces, etc, except in the Jewish Quarter for about $20 apiece (490 Krowns) Its. a great city, you'll love it.
