Grand Zvon Hotel Ceske Budejovice
Unique Quality: Three ancient buildings were assembled to form the Hotel ,with his history going back to the 16th century. Overlooking the famous Market Place, Grand hotel Zvon is a treasure amond the city's cultural and historical buildings. His restored frescos in the hotel passage and the 17th century hand carved ceilling of the Gourmet Synphony Restaurant give its unuqueness to the one of the world's oldest hotels.
it has 66 rooms and 2 suites from which 20 four star rooms offer a panorama over the square, bath tub and shower,mini bar ,sat TV , and phone.
The hotel owns its own ranch in South Bohemia ,from which it is provides with beef , calf and lamb dishes in Bohemian and Viennese recipes.

Grand Hotel Zvon - since 1533
On the square in front of the Hotel Zvon, the original pavement has been preserved - a stone with engraved cross called Erratic boulder. It is said to be located at the place of a former gibbet and anybody who steps upon it after 10 pm will get lost.

Czech food on the square
We couldn't get into either of our first two choices, Ceske Budejovice doesn't have a lot of restaurants and even less that come recommended. We circled the square looking for another option, the 1st place we popped into had no one at all in it which wasn't an encouraging sign so we found this place.
I'm not sure I have the right name for this place but it's situated right outside the Grand Hotel Zvon on the main square in Ceske Budejovice, there's outdoor seating in front and more space in the pub like restaurants inside. We weren't able to find a seat outside so we sat indoors, it was a little weird at first sitting amidst smokers since we don't have indoor smoking anymore in Chicago but we got used to it as our trip went on. I ordered garlic soup, which was nothing special, and spatzle with ham and cheese which was good and filling. David ordered beef goulash with dumplings and enjoyed it. I didn't keep my receipt but I think the prices were average for everything.
No pictures of the food, it was our 1st night in town and I wasn't into full tourist mode yet...
