Pension Rex: Great location, big room
We found this room through the information center in the Center. See my tips on the info center also.
It was a huge room that slept 5, 2 single beds on one side of the room and one double, and then one futon type bed in the lounge area.
We loved the location and the room was fine. Only one expection is...the lack of ventilation. You can't open the windows and it's really stuffy.
The owners speak just a little little bit of English and some German.
There was a refridgerator and a big bathroom. The shower was a bit tricky to get the hot water going, but it works.
Price was 1700 for 2 nights for 2 adults, in Aug. 08 that was 33 euro approximately.
Unique Quality: There is park on the one side of the building and there is a great beer garden just 2 blocks down on the little river along side the park. Plus the bus to the budweis brewery can be caught just across from the park, in a 2 min. walk. The owners own a restaurant that is next door and there is take away burger/sandwich place too right there. The square is only a 5 min. walk away.

Pension U Nadrazi
I stayed in U Nadrazi for two nights with my husband in August 2006 and I was very satisfied with the pension.
Rooms were recently redecorated, they were really nice and clean. Service in the pension was very friendly. Pension is located just some 200 metres away from the bus and railwaystations, so it is easily reached even while carrying a huge backpack!
City centre of Ceske Budejovice is about one kilometer away from the pension, so it takes only some 5-10 minutes to walk to old town square.

Private rooms
If you don't have a place to stay in Ceske Budejovice before visiting, just go to the Information office in the town square once you arrive, it's a straight 5 minute or less walk from the train station. They have an endless list of private rooms, so finding one won't be a problem. We stayed with one couple in an extra room of theirs, but it was more like our own apartment because we had our own kitchen and dining area to go with the large room and bed. We also had our own tv. We did share the bath but that was no problem at all. We had our own entrance as well and were located on a separate level on the 3rd floor overlooking a pleasant courtyard with a nice view. less than 5 minute walk to the town center or train station!
Unique Quality: One day the lady even told us that if we needed to do any laundry that she would do it for us and so when we came back at the end of the day, there was all our laundry laid out for us on the bed, all perfectly ironed and folded!! And she wouldn't take any of our money for it! Very nice!
