salzburg to cesky krumlov and on to prague

by leeannkucher

I have some real concerns...we are planning on a day stop in Cesky Krumlov for sightseeing on our way from Salzburg to Prague. We realize we will approach Prague late, but want to see CK. Our concerns are about our luggage in the car during this exctended stop in Cesky Krumlov. Any suggestions?

Hy,
I have never had problems with my car and my luggages in Czech Republic, except a fine for high speed:( Anyway, if you want to keep your shirt on, close the Castle there are three big paying car parks with attendant. You can pay with CZK and € (coins) but I don't remember how much the price is.
Ciao, Marco

Historical building development :
The origins of this structure are partly Gothic and partly Renaissance, as is evident from the tower's external appearance. The tower as well as the Little Castle is a segment of a structure dating from the first half of the 13th century. The oldest part of it is the groundfloor and first floor. The origin of the second floor is around the 14th century, while the third floor is part of the Renaissance belfry. We can not eliminate the Gothic origin, however, due to the bell dated 1406. Under the architect Baldassare Maggi of Arogno, the castle was remodelled and converted from a plain Gothic palace into a Renaissance residence, and the tower was provided with an arcaded gallery at the top in 1581. In 1590 the tower was decorated with mural paintings and figural and architectural motifs by Bartolom?j Ber?nek - Jel?nek. In 1947 an ambitious reconstruction of the tower was realized. In 1994 - 96 the paintings and murals underwent reconstruction as well.

Rococo Bellaria summerhouse and cascading fountain

by Nadia7

The Cascade Fountain is placed in the Castle Gardens in Èeský Krumlov. It is situated on the slope that divides the upper garden and lower parterre. The cascade fountain with statues of the water Deity, balustrade, vases and allegories of the four seasons crowns the front of the upper garden.

Tips where you take the bus leaving Cesky

by Xdrive

When you leave the town, in my case, go back to Prague, you should go back to this bus station. Normally, should be bus stop terminal # 2-3.
Tip 1) No worry about the bus terminal number, you will see some one waiting at the same bus stop with luggage, just follow them.
Tip 2) Just beside the bus stop, there is a gas station, you can find free tiolet there in the shop, but just not too high profile, go there quietly. the gas station shop keeper may stop you for $$$.

Egon Schiele Centrum

by kit_mc

This is quite an odd museum / art gallery to have in such an antique place as Cesky Krumlov. It's worth spending an hour wandering about inside, if only because the actual exhibition space itself is so good.

This has an informative permanent exhibition about the short life of Egon Schiele who was mentored by Gustav Klimt and whose mother came from this town. He also lived here at one stage but was run out of town for his loose moral standards - he painted nude pictures of local girls.

Also temporary exhibitions of contemporary art of mixed quality.

Worth noting perhaps that this place is a little expensive as Czech museums go at about 180/150 CK. Open 10am to 6pm.

located in the second courtyard is the castle tower. originally a gothic tower built in the 13th century it was remodeled in 1580 during the reign of vilem rosenberg. in 1591 it was painted by bertolomej beranek-jelinek in the renaissance graffiti style. you can go up to the top of the tower for a small fee for a great view of the town
