From Krumlov to Budapest

by Poling

I can't bus company operating the route from Krumlov to Budapest. The train seems does not have direct route. Would anyone kindly advise what is a convenient way to travel between the two places? is overnight transportation available? Thanks a lot.

You should find a coach from Cesky Krumlov to Jihlava. Then find another coach from Jihlava to Brno. Find another coach from Brno to Bratislava. And then finally by a Hidrofoil ticket from Bratislava to Budapest. The Danube River will take you to Budapest.

Note: I don't know if there is a direct connection between Cesky Krumlov to Brno or Bratislava...

There are trains from Cesky Krumlov to Ceske Budejovice, and from there to Brno, and finally from Brno to Budapest. No direct route unfortunately. An alternative route is Cesky Krumlov, Ceske Budejovice, Prague, Budapest.

Just a late update: I finally took the bus from CK back to Prague and then the overnight train from Prague to Budapest.

Kájovská 54

Two story corner house with painted Renaissance frontage belongs among the most interesting monuments of the historic centre of Èeský Krumlov. It is basically a late Gothic building which underwent a general reconstruction in Renaissance style in the third quarter of the 16th century. There are noteworthy richly painted facades with decorated and figurative motives. Both frontages are expressive in the town interior.

Oh, the food I consumed

by Krumlovgirl about Kavarna

This is the first place that we ate at in Krumlov, and it set the standard for everywhere else. I had chicken covered with cheese sauce, a salad, homemade bread, a glass of wine, a Pepsi, and chocolate crepes for about $6. I was very hungry. What do I suggest you try? Do like we did-try one of everything. We ate there twice on our trip and wasn't disappointed either time.

The masqarade ballroom

by sourbugger

The masqarade ballroom, is a very impressive room. If you have seen a lot of castles then this will be the room that sticks in the memory long after you have left and seen a load more castles.

The bright paintings of historical figures are well executed with just a bit more than a sense of humour.

I especially liked the painting of false doors to give the place the correct 'symmetrical feel'.

There are a couple of different tours of the castle - but make sure your tour includes this room.
