A friend and I are travelling by train from Praha to Cesky Krumlov, and we are staying in Hostel 99 for two nights.
We would like to get the most out of our visit, and we want to enjoy the local food and beer. Please can you suggest any dobry (good) hospody as well as sights to be seen.
We are also thinking of stopping at Ceske Budejovice as we need to change trains here.

I strongly recommend that you stay at Penzion Panorama instead of a hostel. The owners are a terrific couple and they serve a great breakfast. They have a nice mini bar in the kitchen, or you can buy beer and other Czech treats at the nearby grocery store. Puppets or rather marionettes can be seen through Cesky Krumlov; In fact, there would some puppet performances in the town if we are lucky !
This photo was taken by me where a shop was selling the puppets to us passers-by.
Did I buy one ? I would love to but again, I had to watch my money, sadly.

Two story corner house with a diaphragm arch over Klášterní street. The house has a sgraffito facade, and there are arcades under the modern cornice with a painted Renaissance series called"Lifecycle", which is supposed to represent ten stages in the life of man, from boyhood to death. The arcades on the side of the house contain abswing paintings, depicting maybe alchemist scales and Cabala signs. There are small Gothic windows with angled edges and red Gothic embossing.

It's hard to get in, it's hard even to book it, but if you do, you are in the nicest restaurant you can find in Český Krumlov!
Here there were the old prison cells of the medieval town, now it's a restaurant, but it seems that time has stopped!
Great food, great atmosphere, often great live music too, it's really a MUST in Český Krumlov, don't miss it for any reason!
A definite must do activity in Cesky Krumlov is to take a kiyak down the Vltava River to one of the many little towns along its path. It's fairly cheap and gives you a different perspective of Czech. Also note the friendly people as you sail past and say hello to Czech's as they pass you too easily in their kiyaks.
If you are spending a night in Cesky Krumlov, take a walk after dark when the day trippers are gone. The town is almost empty then and you will feel like you have the quiet streets all to yourself. Quite a different experience after dodging the crowds during the day!
