Bus from Cesky Krumlov to Salzburg

by janiebird

Is there a direct bus from Cesky Krumlov to Salzburg? Does a bus drive through Hallstatt on the way to Salzburg?? We will be staying in Cesky Krumlov and would like to avoid backtracking on trains. Thank you for your help.

There is no busline between Cesky Krumlov and Salzburg (but there might be a lokal tour operator with an excursion to Salzburg).
For Hallstatt (realy nice place) go by train to Attnang-Puchheim and then to Hallstatt (Station Obertraun 10 minutes bus). If you go then back to Bad Ischl also nice), there are buses to Salzburg.
Ist a bit difficult finding the timetable on this site:

Travel Tips for Cesky Krumlov

Outside Cesky Krumlov...

by coceng

This photo was taken outside the vicinity of Cesky Krumlov.
I walked pass the Castle Bridge & kept on walking until I reached a carpark.
Just wandering around the area I should say & snapped this photo !
Even from here the Cesky Krumlov Castle looks amazingly perched on the hill...

a great theatre

by globetrott

The centre of this openair-theatre is a revolving tower with the chairs of the audience.
That way the actors might use the stage in front of the small summer-castle, the open
fields on the back or any of the trees and bushes of the park as a scenery for the play.
There is even a restaurant inside that tower and it offers refreshments the whole day, NOT only during the performances !

Great food!

by mnabartlett about Don Julius Restaurant

A really nice place, just off the main square, and great food! A cool train set goes around above your heads and the food is excellent modern Czech. I have been probably ten times to C Krumlov and I make sure I eat here every time.

Exploring the town of Cesky Krumlov.

by dabidc

The map will help in findinh where the walk around the town will take us.

The parking area, # 38 at the top left hand side , gives easy access to the Na Plasti gate #11and the pedestrian bridge across the Vltava . The Na Plasti is shown in the inroduction as is the pedestrain bridge.

The old centre has many narrow streets and lanes that lead first to the main square, Svornost Square, take Siroka and climb a little to the square, this is an area where several hotels and cafes are found.

In this general area, go a little south towards the river, the remains of the town walls can be seen, or head out of the square on the east side to visit St Vitus parish Church.

The purpose of the visit to Cesky is to see the Castle and view the town form the higher viewpoint. If you then return to the Svornost sq take the street on the north side, Radnicki towards the slow flowing rich brown river, yes it is the same river it just meanders around, so much that it is easy to become disoriented.

Once again a bridge to cross, some views are shown later of this area, then climb again this time along Latran street, where an office of Cedok is available for maps and brochures.

At last the castle is close by and travelogues are with each photo.

The old town centre is located in the lower loop of the river, the castle is in the upper loop.

Small beauiful town,

by Xdrive

This a small town, you can walk all streets in the whole town within one hour. However, the nice things in this town is surrounded by a river, you need to walk casually and relax to enjoy the bird singing and fresh air. I took this picture just at the back of a restaurant, very romantic place.
