train/bus from Ceske Budejovice
by bloms5
We are traveling from Berlin to Cesky Krumlov. What I have read it sounds like it is best to take the train to Ceske Budejovice and then take the bus from there since it takes you more to the center of town. Our train arrives in Ceske Budejovice at 15:02 and there is a bus at 15:20. Does anyone know if the bus stop is that close to the train station. On the reservation page for the bus it says, "Ceske Budejovice, aut.nadr" Before I reserve this I just want to be sure that is is near the train station. Also does the bus take you to center of town or do we ride to the bus station in Cesky Krumlov and walk from there. Thank you

Center of Cesky Krumlov is slosed for cars, so there is no bus stop in the center of the town, the closest stop to the center is Cesky Krumlov aut. nadr. (which means main bus station). I don’t know if buses from Prague stop there but it is last stop for bus from Ceske Budjovice for sure, I used it once.
The train station in Ceske Budjovice is 5 min away, but you have to cross the road, which can take time if you have a lot of bags. Then you go out of the station you will see big shopping mall the main bus station is located on the last floor of this building.

The trains station in Cesky Krumlov is not that far away from the center, something like 400 meters uphill from the center (so even if you have luggage you go downhill), so I would advise take whatever suits you best, it doesn't really matter if it is bus or train. In Budejovice the mall is called Mercury Centrum and it is in front and a little to the left from the train station. As the previous advice says - you have to go to the roof.

Greetings friends:
It took me three minutes to walk from the Ceske Budejovice train station to platform #1 at the bus station. It is not really a problem if you miss your bus to Krumlov. Another will leave in about an hour, and you can easily walk to the fascinating Bud. city square. Buy a Budvar beer (best in the world) brewed just down the street, and enjoy the view.
Option 2: Take the express bus from the Florenc station in Prague to Bud. city (much better and cheaper than the clunky train). True that the bus to Krumlov doesn't stop in the "center of town", but the bus stop immediately across the street from old town is close enough for old hund here (you can even see the castle from the bus stop - how nice is that my friend?). The train station (ugly thing that it is) may be close enough to old town for you my friend, but I would rather ride the bus and spare the shoe leather.
Option 3: Consider spending the night in Krumlov, after taking in some excellent Roma (gypsy) live music and dancing in old town. Stay with my good friends who own the Penzion Panorama, which costs a small fraction of what a hotel in Prague will run you. Czech out my VT Krumlov page for a virtual tour of the penzion and booking link.
Travel Tips for Cesky Krumlov
The Castle Tower...
by coceng
These are the photos taken by me around Cesky Krumlov !
Being tipped as one of the most beautiful medieval town in Europe ! Added to UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LIST in 1992.
The chateau here is the 2nd largest in Czech Republic after Prague's.
Wander around the cobble-stoned streets around Cesky Krumlov !
This is the photo of the castle tower which can be seen from all over directions if you are in Cesky Krumlov !
Location :
The tower, surrounded by the residential palace of the Little Castle, is situated on a narrow rocky promontory towering above Latrán and the Vltava River between the Ist and IInd Courtyard of Èeský Krumlov Castle.
Description :
This is a rounded six-storied tower. The lower part (first two stories) is much wider and is separated from the upper one by the cornice, with the original ceilings dating from the 1580's. The facade is decorated with illusively painted architecture. The second floor has a rounded ceiling as well. The ceiling above the third floor is a simple joist ceiling with a porthole and rounded windows with semicircular vaulted niches placed in the circular stonework. The belfry is on the fourth floor, where four bells are set on the bell supporting construction located in the high ceiling room. The fifth storey is an arcaded barrel-vaulted gallery with triagonal segments. The corridor passes upwards through the Renaissance portal into a segmental hutch-vaulted room. The room with the clock is situated on the sixth floor and is lit by small rounded windows. Above the simple joist ceiling is a garret with the lower part of the truss. On the top of the tower is a lantern with bells.
Telc...
by coceng
This photo was not taken in Cesky Krumlov but in TELC where the bus that I was taking stopped for a while (to get some bites) on my way to BRNO.
I didn't have the time of course to explore Telc but this town was founded in the 14th century as a fortified settlement !
The photo is showing the canteen where I got my sandwich to eat...FROM TELC, I CONTINUED TO BRNO...[Click on the link].
Bus stop look in Cesky Krumlov
by Xdrive
Here is the bus stop from Prague to Cesky Krumlov, in fact I think most of the bus is terminate here. As you can see, there is no tourist information or help desk around. When you finish your 4 hours bus journey, and end up to it. Normally, you don't know where to go...... because there is no sign there. No problem, JUST FOLLOW THE CROWD, they should walk to the town, it is about 5 mins to the edge of the town, which is one of the bridge. You should not have problem to find the town. :-)
Krumlov Chateau
by nursesweet
Situated high on a hill, this old castle offers daily tours taking you through the elaborate rooms where the czech nobility used to live.
There is a "bear pit" in the mote of the castle. Poor little black Bears have been forced to live out their existence in these concrete holes below the castle gate. It made an animal lover like me very sad. :(
