	Hostel Merlin: a good looking hostel Tip Rating:

I have to admit I've not stayed here yet but after seeing it, I stopped in to check prices for future trips. It was a great looking place and seemed very clean, with an unbeatable location.

The friendly owner spoke English and explained that all beds are $10, and if you are a couple, there are a few doubles if you are lucky enough to get one. In mid-December, there were plenty of spaces though I imagine in summer, it's wise to book well in advance.

a bargain for $20

I had a place right in the center picked out but there was no one there so I went to the tourist information and asked them to call them. The place they called had a similar name but turned out to be great anyway. It was a short walk from the center but they even had a garage to park your car at a nominal fee.

It was like a little self-contained flat, with a private bath, and small dining area at which your complimentary breakfast was served. The bedroom was very spacious with a comfortable double bed and all the heat you could ever want. In fact, I had to open the window it was so hot! ;) A bargain at only $20 for two including breakfast.

This is a place we've eaten but not stayed yet. In fact, we did not know they had rooms until the last trip. Though not cheap by Czech standards, it has a great location, right in the old town and on top of one of the best local restaurants too. It costs 1200 KC ($48) for a double with own shower/toilet.

Rooms looked very cosy and rustic in a clean modern way.

We wanted to stay in the Hostel Merlin but it was a Saturday night in summer and we had never been there in season before. Yup, it was full. We found this place on the Internet and though a bit out of the center, it turned out to be a great quiet place to stay and close to the bus station too.

It is set in a quiet section uphill from the center. It has a nice garden area and you have your own little flat. It feels like you are living at a local home and the owner is friendly and speaks a few languages. It was thirty dollars for a double but would be cheaper per night if you stayed more than one night.
