Travel Tips for Jindrichuv Hradec
Jindrichuv Hradec / Neuhaus is a small town of 22.000 inhabitants, east of C.Budejovice / Budweis.
Take a guided tour through the castle to see great works of art, gobelins, frescos and precious porcelain.
Have a look as well at the garden-pavillion, where 4,5 kg gold were used for the decoration of the building in the 16th century.
Have a look for the lovely town-square as well !
As soon as I have more time, I will add the rest of my pictures about this place !
You may take the train to Jindrichuv Hradec / Neuhaus or take road # 23, leading from Sobeslav to Telc and finally Brno.
Jindrichuv Hradec Castle and Chateau
"The third largest historical complex in CZ"
This Roman-Gothic castle, surrounded by legends about the White Lady, was rebuilt in an imposing Renessaince chateau in the 16th. century. A complex of buildings of various architectonical styles belongs to the vastest chateau areas in the Czech Republic. Among its most precious parts belongs an old Gothic palace with early Gothic mural paintings, a huge cylindrical tower Hladomorna (Dungeon) and a tower called Menhartka with a preserved black kitchen. In the chateau park we can find a roundel, a remarkable Renaissance music pavilion with rich stuke decorations, architectonically unique Renaissance building located to the north of the Alps.
Renaissance roundel belongs among the most extensive chateau areas of the Czech Republic and, especially the third courtyard represents a perfect mosaic of the most varied building movements and styles. Antonio Ericer cooperated with G. M. Facconi in the building of the charming Renaissance roundel between 1591 and 1596.
The fountain looks like a cage for birds.
every year in summer
the fotos were taken by a friend in winter
Every year in summer I teach a music course in Jindrichuv Hradec. It is always very tiring and very rewarding. Especially the nice town with its relaxed athmosphere is extremely nice.
"food and restaurants"
Everything in this part of Bohemia is extremely cheap. The best - and relatively most expensive - restaurant is Concertino. All sorts of food, but the czech specialities are the best. On the same square (main square) there are other restaurants like Grand Hotel and Vajgar which serve good czech food too. A real treat is a little cafe called Kastanek at the end of the shopping street at the edge of the little park which has the most delicious cakes for no money. For those who try to find a drink after 11 PM I recommend the "Nonstopbar" kind of opposite to Kastanek (look my page "the best cake") where some dubious czech people have their late drinks and moneygaming.
