Are there any hostels in Brno?

by Drugness

Hello all
I'm visiting Brno in April and i see that the Travellers Hostel is only open during July and August, that's no good to me obviously.
Can anyone recommend another hostel in Brno if there is one? Of course i would like to stay in the city centre and be close to the main sights, and i would like a reasonably priced place too! Tall order! :D
Can anyone recommend a place?
I can't find anything online
Thanks!

DG

There are zillions of places you can stay there, best is to check the official city site: www.brno.cz
If its difficult for you to find, here is a list in English: http://www.brno.cz/download/ksm/brozury/ubytovani.pdf

Book the direct to the hotel on-line or by e-mail they can give you special rates. And when in Brno, you will finally be able to have a real good beer, the Starobrno ;-)

No need to stay in a hostel while visitng Brno. Consider private accomodations. People having available rooms in their houses work with the Tourist Information Service in the historic city center. Stop in the office upon your arrival, and they will arrange a great accomodation at a very good price. There is no charge to you for this service.

Travel Tips for Brno

Climb your way up to Spilberk...

by riika

Climb your way up to Spilberk Castle and enjoy the view of the city once you get up there. Stop by the little garden cafe located a few meters away, and have a nice cool drink at one of the outside tables. Such a nice view! Once you're in the castle, take one of the tours available. The older man working in the coat-room is very nice :) Going up to Spelberk. It was extremely hot that day! So the climb was a bit hard to make, but well worth it when we got up there.

Ignis Brunensis

by Veroali

This is already eleventh year of Ignis Brunensis in Brno. It is a competition of fireworks among countries, mostly Portugal, Spain, Austria... Czech republic, of course. For more than a week there are fireworks, begin above the cathedral Petrov, then in the Brno lake and the last one above the castle Spilberk. This competition is accompanied by great cultural programs, carnival, performances in theaters and many other activities.
It starts every year in the end of May.

Bosonohy

by eledhwen

A town district at the south-west outskirts of Brno above the highway D1, formerly a village, firstly mentioned in the year 1237. The village was till the year 1782 a possession of the cloister in Tisnov and in this year it was connected to Brno. At the Bosonozske square is standing a chapel of St.Florian from the year 1713, you will find here also more than 100 years old lime tree alley, near the Troubska street is newly reconstructed wayside cross. North-west from Bosonohy is a nature preserve Bosonozsky hajek (grove).

Directions
From the city centre take a tram No. 5 or 8 (they are going to Stary Liskovec) and at the station Dunajska change for the bus No. 69 which is going to Bosonohy. It takes you about 20 or 30 minutes and you will need a 13 CZK ticket.

by pollon

as said, it was impossible to convince my fellow workers to go round the town during the little free time so I used to do the following: eat a really rich breakfast before reaching our stand at the fair and use my lunch break to go round the town but unfortunately the time was short and I couldn't go much farther from the fair...

Walk up to the castle

by globetrott about Spielberk castle

There is a large park around Petrin hill and it might be a good idea to take a walk up to the castle, even though you may certainly NOT get inside.
At least it is beautifully lighted untill around midnight.

The question of safety is something else, that you have to decide upon by yourself. No special equipment needed, most of the paths will be lighted untill around midnight.
