1.WHY DONT YOU TRY THE HOTEL TAJ PRESIDENT OR THE HOTEL MARINE PLAZA.

If you're looking for a swimming pool then try hotel International which is right in the centre

The Hotel President and Marine Plaza are not in Brno.
There is only one hotel with own swimming pool - Hotel International. Others Brno Hotels do not offer this service:

Travel Tips for Brno

the catacombes of the capucines /Kapuzinergruft

by globetrott

In many places in Europe you may find catacombes under the Capucine-churches and mostly you will see a strange way to show the dead bodies.
The Capuchine-church in Brno / Brünn is in the very centre of town and for a small entrance-fee you may go there and see it for yourself.

On my picture : Franz Freiherr von der Trenck who lived 1711-1749
In Czechia he is called Frantisek Svobodny pan Trenck .
His corps is shown in the very first hall and you may walk around his cofin that has a glass-top and you may look inside...
The head of him was stolen a long time ago and replaced by another head

Packing List

remember to put an efficient and kind forwarding agent in your luggage... I'm just kidding as I only wanted to remember the nice people charged with forwarding at the fair and one of them is in the pic with me...

Take a walk in the edge of the city!

by lehmus

Go to Bystrc (dam, castle Veveri), Bila hora (labour movement's monument), Stranska skala (limestone 156 millions years old), Marianske udoli (lakes), Medlanak (small airport), Kravi hora (planetarium), Hady and Mokra (quarries)... there are so many places for a nice walk in nature, hills offering a pleasant view, and all of this just one step from the rush of the "civilization" (well, to some extent). Please visit catangel's VT page to check some of his walks in Brno.

Koprivnice - for all fans of Tatra-automobiles

by globetrott

Maybe 150 km north-east of Brno / Brünn you may visit a really great museum of Tatra-automobiles, planes and even a train.
My favorite part of the museum was the section with the huge 4x4 trucks and expedition-vehicles, beeing able to explore even the remotest places on earth. In the centre of my picture-combination you may see one of them - only 2 of that type were built for an expedition by Czech scientists across Asia in the late 50s.

You have to try the bus system...

by richiecdisc

You have to try the bus system in the Czech Republic. It's very inexpensive, will get you to places that the train does not go, and is very well organized even if you don't speak the language (like me!). All the buses are numbered and they go to a well marked platform at this enormous station on the edge of town. You can ask inside with a slip of paper what number bus goes to your desired location. They run pretty frequently so most likely you will not have to wait long. It was 84 kr ($2.39) from Brno to Telc with buses at 6:00, 9:00, 10:00, 13:30, 16:30, and 16:30. It was about two hours and a lovely ride as well.
