    This was our chandelier and the parquet ceiling -- it was NOT a stylistic match with the modern black "leather" furniture!

    This is a big hotel. If you stay here be sure to get a room on the side AWAY from the train station or you will be entertained throughout the night by the announcements of train arrivals and departures in several languages! The view facing the train station [and the tram station too!] isn't particularly lovely as the picture shows.

    The rooms range from plain to downright opulent. The first time we stayed there we had a corner suite. red curtains, black leather furniture, a wooden parquet ceiling AND [drumroll please...] a chandelier! My room during my next stay in Brno on the north [non-train side] was small but overlooked the town and was MUCH quieter! There are several other good [perhaps better] hotels in town, but I like the location opposite the train station and on the edge of the historic core.

    Built in 1870, the GRANDHOTEL BRNO is a first class hotel in the heart of Brno's Old Town. At Brno's Main Station, historic sights and the commercial center are only steps away. Ideal connection to fairgrounds, guided parking in front of the hotel.
    The GARDEN RESTAURANT features Bohemian delights as well as international specialities. Snacks are served at the GRAND GRILL.

    • I stayed there for 3 weeks in Jan/feb 05. I cant complain about the service because there was very little scope to use any of it. We mostly slept at night in the hotel. The rooms were well heated, the single room beds were just enuff for me to squeeze in. The fanta in the minibar tasted weird and the rooms were very uninviting.
    I am told other hotels are even worse. So this is the best you get in Brno. You will find a taxi at the hotel door, a spartan breakfast and a well stocked bar. Does not cost too much either...However if you are looking for the kind of service you find in upper class hotels in India forget it.....

    • Stayed here in February 2007. Hotel has been upgraded and bears comparison with any 4star hotel anywhere in western Europe. Very comfortable room, good breakfast, staff speak English. Fixed price deal was good value.

    I have never stayed in this hotel, but i would like to. It has a good reputation and it is located just in the center. Approximately 122 euro per double room, so i guess must be comfortable. Just check the website below.
