Airpoprt to Holiday Inn?

by jono301

Can someone advise me of the best way to get from the airport to the Holiday Inn? If it is via taxi, can you advise me of the approximate fare?

many thanks

Jon

Hi Jon, don´t take a taxi unless you arrive in the night and can´t wait on the airport. For a taxi you will pay at least USD 30,-, probably even more.

Use the city-transport instead, it is not difficult:

There is a City-Bus-station at the airport (signs visible, you can´t miss it). Directly at the bus-station there is an automat for sale of tickets (english instruction available on the machine) buy her a ticket for CZK 26,- (less than USD 2,-) and wait for bus no. 119 (first one coming daily on 4.18AM last one shortly after midnight). Mark your ticket (which is than valid for your whole journey) inside and go with this bus up to its terminal called "Dejvická" it takes 20-25 minutes. Than follow the majority of other passangers and go down to the tube, line "A" and than to the station called "Muzeum" where you must change to line "C" and go to the station "Vysehrad". This is close to your hotel.
Nice stay in Prague, Mirek

Did not he ask about the transport from Brno airport (Letiste Turany)? Check the public transport website:

Travel Tips for Brno

Drink. Ha ha. No,...

by finnegan

Drink. Ha ha. No, REALLY......The Moravians are very proud of the fact that they are not Bohemians. They have their own ways...chiefly that this is the wine region and they drink wine not beer like those Praguers), and Brno even has its own slang: Hantec (pron. Han-tets) - originally a shorthand mish mash tongue used by the merchants here.---------------------Having said that, the Moravian beer, Radegast, is superb (a schematic of their brewery is pictured here). The second best bar I have ever been to (the best being Spec's in San Francisco) a place with no name, called Traubova (some in the English department at the University called it 'the Poison Cottage' before my day). Sadly, the place is changed now and sucks a whole lot, but the guy who made it all it happen, my pal Libor (they guy with the BIG black dog), has another, almost a cool place called 'Skleneni Louka' (The Glass Meadow) on (looking it up) Street, right next to Moulin Rouge, which looks like a whorehouse and is, in fact, one. Go downsatirs - that's where the fun is. Students, dogs, heavy smokers, NO ventilation, great musical acts, terrible music acts, drunks and wanderers and anyone else you can think of.------------ Other fun places to chill in town: the place now run by my crazy German friend Alexander over in Petrov the name of which I cannot for the LIFE of me recall right now is one, more upscale than, say, Louka.

Starobrno Beer

by Astralka

If you go to Mendel Square do not miss the chance to sit in a beer garden of the Starobrno Brewery and try the local beer. I like it much more than Pilsen (from Pilsen=Plzen) and Staropramen (from Prague=Praha).

(the word STARY means OLD in Czech language)

half a liter should be less than 1 euro

Cerná Hora Brewery

by schmechi

Just a few kilometres outside of Brno you may visit Cerná Hora Brewery, which brews fine beers since 1530. It is famous for it's dark beers but also produced light one's, lemonades and schnaps.

It is possible to make a guided tour, where they explain how they make beer. Different from other brewery guided tours you can also discover the process of the becoming of beer. You'll see the fresh liquid stored in huge vats fermenting.

There is also a nice restaurant with an outdoor area, where they arrange small concerts and parties and a bowling alley.
Try their famous schnaps Monte Negro too, it's really hard booze....

Lednice / Eisgrub castle - south of Brno / Brünn

by globetrott

Lednice / with the old german name Eisgrub is a really great and beautiful castle, where you may even take photographs inside the castle against a small fee !
You may only take a GUIDED tour through the castle and there are 2 different tours - each of them is about 1 hour
That way you might need almost the whole afternoon for the castle and the big park around it.

Lednice is about 75 km north of Vienna and about 50 km south of Brno / Brünn .

Now, This Is Weird...

by coceng

Now, this is weird. The photo on the left.

I couldn't make out where I took that photo of myself. It could be accidently taken by me. Where ? I am not sure myself. Could it be in the hotel room ? Could it be a mirror reflection of me when I wanted to take something inside the mirror case ?

Wonder what was that ?
