I'll try try to get some more detailed info, but during major motorsports events there are (usually free-of-charge) shuttle buses running between Mendlovo namesti and the circuit (from city center you will get there by tram No. 1, 5, 6).

Hello,

During events FIA WTCC, World Superbike Chanpionship, MotoGP and FIA GT there is a special bus line 400 from the city centre to the racetrack and back free of charge. Further info will appear on our website before each particular event.

Travel Tips for Brno

After the Cathedral and the...

by Kettleman

After the Cathedral and the bones in the crypt, and Spilberk Castle, you must visit the Cerna Hora pub a stone's throw from the railway station and try the beers! Cerna Hora itself is to the north of Brno and the brewery is excellent.

2004 - i think this pub had now closed!!!!! My first memory of Brno is arriving from the south along silnice 52 from Mikulov after a strung-out border crossing and seeing the cathedral and the castle lit by the afternoon's rays.

It was 1986 and the Velvet Revolution was still a mere miracle away. Even so, the signs of communism were rusting away in the fields as huge metal sculptures (!) were left rotting by the locals!

But seeing the sun lighting up the spires was quite moving.

by pollon

again I'm speaking of 8 years ago and fairly much history ago but I remember how difficult it was to explain the man of the only newspaperkiosk opened when the fair closed that I would have liked playing cards... we had the crazy idea to play cards one evening and in spite I tried in german, in english and in french in the end I had to describe it with my hands and you know italians are said to speak with their hands and infact it worked ;-)...

The Indecent Little Man

by lehmus

There is a few interesting but quite hidden spots. Definitely worth seeking and seeing!
Even many Brno locals don't know about them. This little man on the south side of the St. James' Church shows his buttocks at you :) Follow the link to read more about him!

Roznov pod Radhostem - 80 km east of Brno

by globetrott

Roznov pod Radhostem / Rosenau am Radegast is a small town nearby Pustevny (8km) in a distance of about 80 Km east of Brno.
This is quite a distance, BUT it might be a good combination with Brno and with my hotel-tip of Pustevny
In Roznov pod Radhostem you may see the big open-air-museum of wooden houses and watermills, called "Valasske muzeum v prirode".
It will take about 3-5 hours to see it all, as the watermills may be visited by a guided tour only (including demonstrations of the mills ) and the rest of the buildings are spread over a rather big area, arranged like in the original villages with meadows, sheep, cows etc.

A lot of walking is needed there uphill and downhill, but all the buildings still have their original interior and you have to feeling, it always belonged there, although 90% of them were de-constructed all over Czechia and finally rebuilt again in the museum.

Take the train to Brno / Brünn

by globetrott

Take the train to Brno / Brünn and you will get into the very centre of town, with just a few hundred meters to the cabbage-market and all major attractions of Brno / Brünn.
It might certainly make sense to make a short stop-over during your train-ride from Vienna to Prague : 1-2 hours might be enough, when you want to see the major attractions ( without Spielberk castle )
