    This is supposed to be the big daddy of Karlovy Vary hotels and spas. While I have never stayed IN the hotel, I have been inside of it and toured around a bit. From surfing around on the website I recommend trying out one of their packages if you're seriously considering staying here. They seem to be much more reasonable.

    An impressive hotel - a place that truely deserves the five stars that it parades.

    Things are done with taste & elegance as they should be around here.

    The public rooms are comfortable, the views fine and the facilities are excellent.

    The restaurant is on the outrageous side for the czech republic, but reasonable if you are used to western prices. Every dish is served with a steel dome thing over the top - and they are all removed with a flourish. The small portions beneath might, however, be something of a disappointment.

    The casino can also be given a miss - it's mainly filled with Russian Mafia types and their slightly past-it blonde wives with which you will have to share most of the hotel.

    By looking round on several hotel-booking websites and the Pupp website itself you should be able to get a good discount on the rack rate.

    Alternatively stay at the Grandhotel Park wich is attached and enjoy the shared facilities.

    The historic Granhotel Pupp is undoubtedly one of the most famous hotels in the Czech Republic. It bears the name of the Pupp family, which gradually purchased its individual buildings in the 18th and 19th century. The hotel's oldest building dates back to 1701.
    Both the exterior and interior of the hotel were completely restored after 1989 to do away with the previous 40 years of communist neglect the hotel experienced under its temporary name "Moskva".
    The hotel has 229 rooms, first class rooms and suites. We did not sleep there but if we back we would like to stay there.

    • The ParkHotel Pupp is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever been too. It is clean and just downright luxurious. The service is fantastic. At the main restaurant the servers stood there the whole meal and refilled our water glasses when we took one sip. What a beautiful hotel...I wish I could have stayed there longer.

    The view out my window was beautiful. Karlovy Vary is a stunning town, and it was always calming to look out the window. The main restaurant is wonderful.

    The Grand Hotel Pupp is the paramount of Karlovy Vary accommodation and it truly is a grand hotel in the classic sense. From the outside the building dominates the landscape and is awe inspiring. Inside, every corner oozes elegance and class.

    If only the staff were more friendly and willing to assist it would be worth the money. Given their complacent and sometimes adversarial attitude I doubt we would stay there again. Once was enough.

    The rooms are large (we had a junior suite) with very high ceilings. Nothing special otherwise, but certainly comfortable.

    The other amenities include Roman Baths open from 10AM to 10PM, nothing special, there are better baths elsewhere in town if you want a more relaxing experience.

    The Bechers Bar is worth a visit; a nice English style pub with live music and lots of cocktails to choose from.

    The main restaurant was excellent in all respects. Despite the fact that they didn't have our reservation that we had confirmed earlier in the week they were able to find us a table after some doorway negotiations (one of several confrontations that tainted our visit). The food and the service here is some of the best I've experienced. Very expensive, even on European standards but worth it if you enjoy fine food, wine and the dining experience.

    If you decide to request a late checkout so you can get a last minute facial or massage, be sure to get that commitment in writing. Having yet another negotiation with their "service" staff that you need to vacate the room immediately despite their previous acceptance of a late checkout is not a great way to end the stay.

    All in all... a beautiful hotel spoiled by bad customer service; most unlike all other Czech hotels we have stayed at.
