    Since I visited Liberec only for one day I did not stay here personally. BUT I talked to people who enjoyed their stay in this hotel very much. They said the service was perfect, the ambience very elegant with "old world charm". Breakfast buffet very good.

    I happened to walk by this hotel (btw, in English the name is Golden Lion) and could not refuse to walk in. The lobby is really like you imagine an old Grand Hotel from the Belle Epoque. It looked like renovated in the recent past, not shabby or so.

    Location is excellent, central but quiet, vis-a-vis a small park and the castle. Only a five minutes walk to the Market square with the town hall and all the shopping. The tram No. 2 stops only 100 m from the hotel (runs to the railway station).

    • Staff speak very little English. German would be the predominant second language (as they are only 20 minutes drive from the German border). The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

    The rooms are large, comfortable and very quiet. CD player/ radio/ TV.

    The restaurant was top class and would suit a romantic dinner destination..even if you are not staying at the hotel.

    Up to 40% discount is offered if you book online. Triple Room 2990Kc(usual price) -40% booking online.

    Health club with spa, gym, sauna, solarium, massage.

    Internet, WiFi, Billiards.

    • The restaurant is well known for ripping off tourists by blatant overcharging. The management have done their best to sort this out by sending in "mystery tourists" (My friend was one) to catch out dishonest staff. The problem has yet to be resolved.

    You will probably pay 5 or 6 times the going rate if you are not czech.
