Horska chata Girova - Studenicne: Hidden in the mountains

I spent there a few great days in early 90'. It was quite large cottage we - a group of over 20 friends - hired. The best was... price and great location with mountain views over 3 countries: Czech, Poland and Slovakia.

Rooms were small or very small and simple. Shared showers, restrooms/toilets except in 2 rooms. Food was... obligatory to pay for at least 2 meals (brakfast and diner), very cheap but good, menu was in Czech only.

- outdoor, small swimming pool with heated water in summer time (free for "chata" guests)
- sauna (extra paid)
- table tennis (extra paid)
- ski lift in winter.
- dining room and bar on ground floor,
- undergrounds with stone walls and fireplace - cool for our party.
We ordered small pig which natives killed, prepared and baked in an oven for us - delicious!

It was very cheap accommodations (although with obligatory at least 2 meals): price list in Czech language only.
My translation:
dospeli = adults
deti do 15 let = children up to 15yo
stravovani = meals
cena = price
luzko na pokoji bez socialního zarizeni = bed in room without bathroom
luzko na pokoji se socialnim zarizenim = bed in room with bathroom
polopenze = breakfast + diner
plna penze = breakfast + lunch + diner.

Look, double room with bathroom + breakfast + diner costed only 300 x 2 that is 600 Kc = 18,77 euros = US$23,52 = 90,07 Polish zloty !!!

Motorest U Taufru: Local motel

It's quite new "motorest" that is motel which looked nice and was clean at least in lobby. Excuse me, I didn't sleep there. But I would definetely choose it than nearby Hotel Beskyd.

No space for cars next to each room but small parking lot in front instead. Safe place, I suppose as there is local police station next doors. Modern interior design (in Czech way).

Motorest: What is "motorest"?

Excuse, it's not at all Mosty u Jablunkova accommodation tip but general accommodation Czech tip - I'll transfer it to my Czech page soon.

Motorest in Czech language means a motel - a place to rest for motorized travellers, hotel by the side of a road. But in contrast to western Europe and esp. the USA do not expect spaces for cars next to each room. There is parking lot in front or back instead which is less comortable for carrying your luggage.
Driving around Czech I noticed more and more (but still too few) new "motorests". Rooms were usually small (or very small) but clean there. Most of them had TV-set and bathroom, very few telephone in room. Rooms with shared bathrooms, showers and toilet/restroom were always cheaper.

Usually there is a small restaurant or at least local pub/bar with local beer and spirits and usually (but not always) limited local food served.
Always easy to find for driving visitors - look for lighted at nigh advertisings: MOTOREST.
They were less expensive than hotels in city centers/downtowns but usually more expensive than simple, local hotels and esp. "chata" (cottage) or pensions.

Hotel Beskyd: Not my favourite in this area

I spent one night in this hotel in early 90'. I remember small and... almost clean room with very small bathroom and old, out-of-fashion furnitures. Easy to find Hotel Beskyd was quite cheap but still more expensive than many more hidden accommodatons around. Simply, it was not my favourite hotel in that area.

Simple, typical Czech restaurant with good local food and beer downstairs. Good place to meet natives and... visitors from Poland esp. in weekends that time.
