Hotel Staric: 3 star accommodation

We found this place to stay for the night, by Sat Nav. SueT and poons went in to check it out. Apparently the owner had worked in Australia for a while, and wwas pleased to have foreign guests staying at his hotel.

It was another good find- for our overnight stay.

The rooms were basic, but comfortable

The ground floor houses the reception (12.00-22.00 hrs), a coffee lounge and bar, with a modern restaurant (Hela X), which is open for breakfast to late.

5 Double/Twin Rooms and one single are located on the 1st and 2nd floors - staircase (pic 5) no lift.

We had 2 x twin rooms

Beds were quite comfortable, with extra pillows. Storeage, small desk and TV (which we didn't use)(pic 2)

Spacious clean bathroom (pic 4) with shower cubicle, WC, wash basin. Towels/ loo roll provided.
Although our room overlooked the main road , and a casino, which was open until the early hours, it wasn't too noisy.

The standard prices are Double/Twin Room 590 CZK (£19/$30/24 Euros)

We had arrived quite late, and although the hotel restaurant was open, we decided to find 'a local' restaurant. I had to try and find an ATM to exchange some money- I hadn't got any Czech Koruny. There is an Exchange Bureau round the corner from the hotel, but it didn't open until 08.30. The ATM's I found were all inside bank foyers etc-I didn't find one that was 'open' so had to be subbed, until morning, when I went to the Exchange Bureau.
We found a place to eat, which served local cuisine, but then found they'd stopped serving.(22.00 hrs) So we ate at the hotel after all, which was a nice meal, with pleasant service, but they specialise in Italian food. So we missed our one chance to eat Czech food, as we were heading back to Poland next morning.

Yes, I'd use this hotel again/ recommend it to friends.

Unique Quality: This is one of the oldest buildings in Jesenik, with its origins pre-dating 1881. Here is a bit of it's history-from the hotel web site
From a small private house it evolved over the centuries as extra rooms were added. In 1891 a skittle alley was added, with the chance to drink beer, while playing!

In 1905, following new ownership and a complete renovation, Hotel U Turisty was opened, offereing a restaurant and accommodation. This was ahead of its time, especially as it had flushing toilets!

Later, stables were added, followed by garages as motor transport took over from horse drawn transport.
For 7 years, it was to provide accommodation for soldiers from the Czech Army.

It is a good base for exploring the town and its nearby attractions
