Hotel Konselsky Senk: Domazlice Hotel

Konselsky Senk is a pretty typical, well-kept, small town European hotel in a medieval town house that has been remodeled into hotel rooms. The rooms are nicely if not sumptuously furnished and at least the single on the top floor isn't shaped or proportioned like what Americans expect. But the modern wood floors and timbered walls create an atmosphere that's just right for a stay in what was the old Hapsburg Empire.

Each room has a modern bathroom. Most, if not all, of the rooms are reached by climbing a short stairway. Rates are way below what you'll pay in Prague or Bavaria for a similar room--about $50 U.S. for a double.

Unique Quality: Konselsky Senk is a half block off the main Boulevard but right in the middle of the historic town center. The views from the upper floor rooms over the red tiled roofs of the town can be beautiful on the days when the sky is Bohemian blue and the clouds perfectly white.

A breakfast board of breads, cheeses, salamis, muesli and other things is included in the price. These breakfast boards are common in the Czech Republic as well as many other European countries.

Free, secured hotel parking is nearby (they give you a key to little parking lot's doors).

There's a restaurant in the hotel that serves local Bohemian fare (think German) and pasta and pizza. There are a few local restaurants within a block or two.
