Hotel Slovan, Plzen, Czech Republic - Reviews and Hotel Information

It's a really old hotel that I found charming. We got the el-cheapo double room, 2 twin beds and a sink, desk, 2 chairs w/ a table between them for 32 Euro a night. The room was huge with a big window. The ceiling is super high and the door is huge, about 12 feet tall. The bathroom was down the hall and was never occupied when I needed it. The showers were funky. They were down the hall too, 3 shower stalls with no curtains. It appears you can lock the door though. My husband and I just showered together. I've had alot better showers but a few worse ones, mostly in Asia. We were going to have the breakfast for 4 euro but went down and everything was wiped out. It was during the Pilsen beer festival so it was really busy. For 4 euro you can get a heck of a meal at a restaurant. Parking was a little extra and was really secure, in the courtyard, opened by the hotel desk clerk, behind a big wooden door . We got our money back for the breakfast. For the price and location you really can't go wrong.

This hotel is across from a lovely park with fountains. It's a 2 min. walk to the huge church in the middle of the old town and you can walk to the brewery, 10-15 mins. The other direction you will be on a busy street with stores and stuff. There are a ton of restaurant just mins. away. The Pilsen museum is a 6 min walk. U Salmazuu is 5 mins. away too.

UPDATE: Aug. 2008, room 121 was awful, reaked of cigar smoke, noisy as hell, hot, creaky floors. We changed to another room and it was like being in another hotel. So, check out room before you say okay/yes/ya or other.

This hotel is a budget hotel and is run down. If you want a better room go for Category A.

We stay in Catetegory B, just so we can eat and drink better.
