Kutna hora train station

by uittrader

We are thinking of taking a day trip to Kutna Hora in April 2007 and leaving on the night train 24:00 to Budapest..Questions is train station kutna hora hl.n.safe?How is the general area around the station?.Is there a location nearby to eat or drink to recommend to pass some time while we wait for train?Last question is there a lockers to leave luggage at train station.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your question is confusing. Hlavni Nadrazi is in Prague. The train station in Kutna hora is small and only serves local destinations. Trains to Budapest depart from Hlavni Nadrazi in Prague.

And some of them leave from Holosevice in Prague for Budapest as well.

Sorry for the confusion. The night train from Prague stops at Kutna Hora N.l at 24.01 on the way to Budapest. Our main concern was to find out if there is a left luggage at that station. If it is safe? and if there is a nice restaurant/pub near station where we can enjoy dinner and some pivo.

Travel Tips for Kutna Hora

Second to Prague but still wonderful

by rexvaughan

In many lovely but smaller cities who are near a large, powerful or well known one, it is evident that they strive to rival some of the characteristics and features of the larger cities. Kutna Hora’s magnificent St. Barbora’s Cathedral was built to rival St. Vitus in Prague and as you approach St. Barbara’s along Barborska street you travel past the Jesuit College the wall beside the street is lined with statues which were meant to rival the Charles Bridge in Prague. Usually these efforts are not as large or grandiose as that which they are imitating, but wonderful in their own right. Kutna Hora is not as big as Prague and doesn’t have as many “world class” attractions, but it is indeed a great and beautiful place.

That's Me...

by coceng

That's me posing infront of the Cathedral of St. barbara.
I remember when the photo was taken that I really wanted to have a smoke, a cigarette I mean.
Maybe after seeing the human bones in Sedlec an hour previously made me felt slightly nautious hence I finished all my sticks...
Couldn't find a place selling a pack, so I was in a state of craving for a stick on the left photo...Normally, I would be cheery being at such a great sight !
Milan was just shaking his head slightly annoyed maybe; he hates smokers !

Great fassades on main square

by globetrott

The main square of Kutna Hora " Palackeho nam. " is rather small in comparison with other, much smaller cities, but it also has some really great fassades that are worth a quick look, when you pass by there on your way to the bone church or other places of interest. My fondest memory is certainly the bone-church, as it is a unique work of art - but the rest of town is also worth a little stroll through in order to watch out for great old architecture !

I can eat at trendy restaurants at home...

by richiecdisc

The historical old towns are fantastic to wander around, but with more tourists come increased rents, which leaves only trendy restaurants. I can eat in such places at home so when I am on the road I like to find something more authentic. (continued below in FONDEST MEMORY)

40 Km east of Kutna Hora : Pardubice / Pardubitz

by globetrott

Pardubice is a small town, 40 Km east of Kutna Hora.
The townsquare consits only of houses built around 1500 A.D. , only the townhall is a bit younger, from 1894.

Hopefully soon I will have a seperate page about Pardubice with plenty of pics of the townsquare ! Next time I will go there in the afternoon, when the market is over, and houses may be seen better, not covered by tents & shops !
