Map of the town

by Mikebond

Where can I find a map of Kutna Hora on the net? I have done a search but haven't found anything good. I'd like a map that I can print and that shows the location of the main monuments (Google Maps don't show monuments). Can anyone help? Thanks

Seems to have a lot of info available. If the maps are not descriptive enough try to contact them direct.
Cheers & good luck.

Also try Google Earth - I tried it but for some reason the photo was very "smudged" however the street names did come up.

TJ, I had already seen that map. It is detailed, but I cannot print it easily.
I still haven't looked on Google Earth, I'll try it.
Alternatively, does anyone know if I can buy a (cheap) map somewhere in Kutna Hora?

Bones Galore for the serious bone-connoisseur

by globetrott

Kutna Hora was once the most important town in Bohemia, after Prague.
Nearby the town Silver was found and it was turned into Silver coins here as well for more
than 250 years. The coins were produced in " Welsh court " , one of the king's palaces.

St.Barbara chatedral is the main church of Kutna Hora, but the most famous umong travellers like me and many more, is of course the so called " bone church " of Sedlec ( 2 Km off the centre of Kutna Hora ) Kutna Hora is also one of the towns, beeing registered as a " UNESCO World Heritage "

Do you speak Russian?

by richiecdisc

Not much later, a woman at another pension sent me over to her friend’s place but it was difficult to find and on the run-around, I spotted another pension sign. There was no answer so I tried the restaurant next door and the waiter tried to find the owner for me. After some time, he emerged from his room and obviously spoke no English. He asked if I spoke Russian to no avail and I offered up some meager German and at least he understood what I needed, a double room for one night. It was a simple room but spotless and nicely furnished. It was in a quiet neighborhood and even had off street parking. And it was only 400 crown (a little over $13) for the both of us! You hear a lot about two-tiered pricing in the Czech Republic with locals getting a much better shake on accommodation, but if you find small places like this, it seems everyone is treated equally and this was certainly a very good value for money room. Mission accomplished, it was time to finally head out for a beer and I had noticed some typical Czech eateries on the way into town. Kutna Hora is not noted for its beer but they do have a brewery and these small local hangouts had signs outside heralding their town’s local products. It was an interesting walk over there from our pension as it headed out of town and showed how even places as quaint as Kutna Hora are not all squeaky clean and full of ancient history. In fact, their more recent history is often just as fascinating even if what it left behind is not as picturesque. The high rises that litter the main road into town are a reminder of communist times and though garish, they provided housing to everyone. Even in this relatively poor country there are very few homeless people, something many of the richest nations in the world cannot lay claim to. And this is generally where I find the places I most like to eat, and drink. (continued below in FONDEST MEMORY)

A Guy Being Treated Like A Horse !...

by coceng

The idea is to make the guy treated like a horse !
Normally when a couple get married, the husbands would treat their wives like horses, asking her doing so many things !
So, this is the time when the wive or rather the bride can treat her husband as a horse first !
Of course at this point the bride WILL NOT treat her husband as such, so she would be given a key to UNLOCK the chainball tied to her husband's feet.
On the photo, you can see both of them & also the stick on the bride's hand to beat her husband as a horse...
When she got the key, quickly she tried to unlock the chainball but she didn't know was that she's PURPOSELY given a wrong key instead !
After about 10 minutes or so, when the girl's face was turning bright red (angry, maybe...) she was given the right key hence she could unlock the chainball...
What a nice scenario for me !
There were lots of people around The Italian Court on that day, so the married couple had something to remember for the rest of their life; that could be remembered by me too...
