My first stay in an actual Czech hotel was a good one. The rooms where big and airy with private bath and smallish TV's. It was good value at less then $30 including breakfast.
The rooms were very nice but the main draw of this place was the restaurant beneath it, where food was cheap and plentiful and the local brew, Primator, was flowing from the taps.
Described in the Rough Guide as a place to go "in a pinch", TJ Tourista has some basic, clean rooms close to the cathedral. Space at all the other hostels were filled, but this one stayed clear, mostly due to their short reception hours. (8-9 AM, 5-6 PM)
The woman that ran the place was very friendly, and gave me a key so that the lockout wouldn't be a problem. I really liked the area it was in, and it had a nice view. There is a kitchen, but it wasn't quite as clean due to a large group of construction workers that seemed to be living there.
