Do you speak Russian?

One of my better finds in the Czech Republic. We had arrived late and it being the offseason and with no real map of the city, it seemed impossible to find a reasonable place to stay. I somehow spotted a small pension sign as we made about the 15th trip around the narrow, confusing streets. The catch was the owner spoke not only no English but not much German either. Luckily, he did understand that I needed a double room for one night. And better yet, he had offstreet parking for a dollar more!

Unique Quality: A lot is said about two-tiered pricing in the Czech Republic, with locals getting a better shake with regard to accomodations, but this was a great value room for less then $13 for a double. Though we spoke little of any common language and I was pretty much prepared to pay anything at this point, he was very friendly and fair. The room was spotless and nicely if simply furnished. It's on a quiet street, just a couple blocks from the center. Big plus is off street parking for those with a car.
